I woke up this morning to a combination of various alarms and a rather violent thud on the back of the neck - Lovebug had climbed into bed with us again and had clocked me while getting comfy.

Managed to raise my carcass from bed, pour myself into clothing, and get out of the door to make 8:30 bell rehearsal. We sounded pretty awesome. Then sitting through church until our part of the service, which wasn't quite as fun as it was in the low 40s all night and someone had left the main sanctuary's windows open. By the time we performed I couldn't feel my feet and my fingernails were blue. Other than that I admit it was kinda fun sitting up in the choir loft through the services. It's one of those things where even though I'm not a big believer in religion, every once in a while I like going to church/temple what have you. Plus congregational services are kinda Christian light and this church is all about love and light and is honestly kinda fluffybunny and harmless so I rather enjoyed being there. Plus I got to hear [livejournal.com profile] aradiadiane sing in the choir and catch up on her life/gossip. She's got a pretty voice, which I didn't know. I did nip out during the hymn after our bit of the service. Standing around when your feet are numb is an unpleasant sensation.

I got home and upstairs and reported that the performance went well but that I was cold; [livejournal.com profile] cell23 solved this problem by tucking me into bed and telling the short stacks that I needed warming up and cuddling stat. There was much giggling and piling and sitting on the feet until I warmed up, and then Kidzilla reminded me that I HAD promised to make her pancakes, so I did. I'm pleased that the little guys like the whole wheat recipe as much as I do - of course now I'm out of mix and need to mix up another batch today so we have it on hand.

oooh [livejournal.com profile] aradiadiane managed to get her hands on a batch of cheap surplus moleskine notebooks, which i'm a total fiend for. Even better, they're the music staff ones, which is perfect because I told Kidzilla I'd start teaching her how to read music next weekend.

Kidzilla informed us yesterday that she'd never seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; clearly that needed to be the Saturday night movie. She ended up liking it and only squeezed cell23's and my hands a little during the Wonkatania sequence. (I'd like to note that [livejournal.com profile] cell23 singing "There's no earthly way of knowing...." is probably more terrifying than Gene Wilder ever could be, and he was pretty damn scary in this movie.) But she liked the movie and put up with both [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I singing along like a trooper. Lovebug, on the other hand passed out in my lap in the first 20 minutes. 3 year old snoring is insanely cute.

So yeah, pretty low key weekend with the kiddos so far. And now they're done with baths, so I'm on hairbrush duty. :) Then maybe I can get them to help me with the pancake mix.

I did indeed make pancake mix this afternoon, with some help from the short people. Lovebug really REALLY likes sifting, which is awesome cause I hate it, lol. But yeah, he has this cute three year old monkey dance he does to his own rhythm.

Two things I'd forgotten about making pancake mix: 1) it takes a DOUBLE recipe to fill the gallon jar I keep it in. This was all right for today as I didn't have enough ingredients for a double shot anyway, but it's something to remember. 2) the dry milk needs to be ground up a little finer before adding it to the recipe, as it refuses to be sifted otherwise.

After I'd added everything to the container, I needed it all shook up and mixed together, so I handed it to Kidzilla and told her to shake shake shake senora. And since I didn't know enough of the words by myself I put it on, and we had a little dance/mix the pancake stuff party.

It is fucking impossible to be in or stay in a bad mood while this song is on. Especially when there's a floofy haired six year old jumping up and down with her Daddy in the kitchen to it.

Also, I think I need to gather up all the Squire kids and have an afternoon of Games You Played When You Were Five. Lets just say [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I were playing Red Light Green Light with Kidzilla and during the rounds where she was the light, it veered into bloody contact sport territory. Clearly the way to deal with this is to get more grownups to play and see who loses teeth. See also freeze tag and dodgeball. Hell, with our usual crowd and with the addition of a bit of alcohol we could get a mean game of Duck Duck MOTHERFUCKING GOOSE going on... XD Anyone game?
