Truth... on the submarine we had "fresh" eggs for about two months, and they were only kept cool by the ambient moving air of the main fan rooms...
- Caveat #1 there were also coated with a very light coat of wax
- Caveat #2 they were a tinge "ecch" as a breakfast item around the 7 week point (though perfectly fine for baking), and don't even talk about the gas some of us produced after eating them (bitching and farting, two of a sailor's favorite pastimes).
