I want to believe this will be fun. But in a way my sense of disbelief is less strained by "Hey, some crazy mutant ninja people are gonna fight each other in this tournament for ice cream and, I dunno, total world domination.", vs "Uh...yeah, we enlisted the washed up Holywood action movie star Johnny Cage to be an undercover cop."
And I'm deeply worried that instead of getting as quickly as possible to wall to wall fighty mcfights, half the running time will be some character telling another character "Professor Gerhard Nakamura, famous scientist...until he lost his wife in a tragic industrial melonballer accident, which drove him insane! Now he's replaced his hands with razor sharp melonballers and he's known in the gritty underworld (and catering circles) as (dramatic pause as the camera finally allows the audience to see the character's face and all the MK fanboys and fangirls in the audience "Oh shit, that's Wardeathskull!") WarDeathSkull!"
That being said, I loved the first MK movie and just hope the Jeri Ryan can fight better than Brigitte Wilson Sampras Nakamura.
I'm strongly guessing it's promo materials/cinematics for some kind of MK game coming out at E3, not a really real movie. But yeah, no one knows for sure yet.
