Since I made the tag and I unexpectedly have a little time to kill this morning owing to car trouble, lets talk about some droolworthy places I want to see someday. Or at least, one collection of places.

Dang. It makes me wonder how something like this would hold up in NYC. I bet it'd be vandalized in an infinite number of ways within a month or two.

yeah. That said, there's a fair amount of art to be found in the NYC subway if you look for it (usually built into the tile or raised above graffiti level). Nothing like as this, but there if you know where to look.

Yes, I was thinking that too. They've made an effort to make the subways slightly more palatable with art (I'm also thinking of the ACE 14th Street station with those cute bronze sculptures of the little round-headed guys interspersed everywhere including down on the L platform). But I just have a hard time imagining anything this elaborate or elegant fitting in here.

But yeah, I hear you on that. Stylistically, it reminds me of the original platforms and fixtures of the subway when it first opened, which you can still see bits and pieces of on local 6 platforms from Brooklyn Bridge=42nd street, that shit was beautiful back in the day. And have you ever seen the original City Hall station? GUH. Still, it's kinda sad that it got more utilitarian and less pretty throughout the years, though with the construction/restoration they've been trying to address that.
