ETA: oh goddamn it. That messed up HTML code one is supposed to be Rampant. I'm not recreating the entire damn thing for one screwed up link. :P

I got an invite out for this evening, but I feel like crap. Planning a quiet evening of work (personal and work work stuff), reading, and catching up on anjowrimo, since a short brilliant bullshit artist thoroughly distracted me from it yesterday.

Actually, that's pretty much how my weekend is shaping up as well, seeing as this is the first weekend since September where I have nothing going.

I haven't read it yet but the children's book review I work with absolutely loves the Lightening Thief.

Go get John LeCarre's latest, "Our Kind Of Traitor". It's me-read, me-approved.

I'll stick it on my reserve list, but I really ought to read the 7+ books I already have out from the library first! lol

...Just read a book!

God, I HATED Kavalier and Clay. And this is me, who loves Golden Age comic book things. I've tried to get through it three times and couldn't do it. ugh.

I shan't distract you by suggesting other really awesome things not on your list.

I didn't hate it, but I was too bored to keep reading after 50 pages. And I own a comic book store.

The Escapists graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughan, playing off of this book and its Escapist character (oh, hey, clever pun in the name, hadn't noticed til now) is actually very good. Read that.

Wellp, considering I can't stand superhero comics, I should actually like this then?

the Percy Jackson isn't great, but it's fun and quick, and if you like it, you've got the next four books to read all figured out. If you don't care for it, then you can move on, secure in the knowledge you at least have some idea what these crazy kids are on about these days.

I LOVED the Percy Jackson series, and I think I have the other four kicking around if you want to borrow them
