All too true

Bit of an email from Nuke today:

God doesn't give you the people you want; He gives you the people you NEED... to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be.

There's a bit of well-timed perspective. *sigh* Yeah, no way of avoiding it, this week is gonna be full of the squirm inducing think. And goddamn it *sigh* I still need to go get my wrist tattoo.

In other news, I am suiting up and heading to Haven tonight. I need to get my EXTREME FLAIL on.

You know, I gotta back that up. Because I'm pretty sure that, say, Sharon Tate didn't need a particular set of people "sent" to her. Predestination excuses all manner of atrocity, or at least attempts to do so.

*chokes back catty "way to miss the point, both of you" response*

I didn't take it that way. It more made the "people are the sum total of their experiences" bits of my head light up. I think I see it in the same family as "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" thereby making Sharon Tate inapplicable.)

Also, I don't exactly believe in God, but amazingly this doesn't hamper my ability to pull some kind of meaning out of an ostensibly religious statement.

It's not missing the point if harm is explicitly included in the conditions listed which are ostensibly part of shaping you to a preordained end.
