And now: My Stories.

Sons of Anarchy: Finished season 2. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

DW/Torchwood: 2 eps into Children of Earth. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Mad Men: Sunday''s Don vs. government security clearance? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Midway through S2 of Arrested Development. So much LOLWTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC (okay, yeah that one was a stretch.)

And apparently Glee has started up for the season because my twitter feed is full of Gleeks freaking the hell out. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

okay, stopping now, lol. And yes, I've been pre-warned to have tissues on hand and all the sharp things put away while watching Children of Earth. Looking rather forward to it, perversely enough, it's been a bit since I was wrecked by a TV show, and I do rather enjoy it when a story hits like that, means the writers did their job.

I'll say nothing here to spoil CoE for you, but your reaction was pretty much the same as mine at that point. :)

We actually went up to the end of the 4th, and I had to show the opening "video" form the 5th. Why? Because it raised the huge question: why didn't Jack just tell the aliens that Earth is under the Doctor's protection? It's worked in like a jillion other cases.

Yeah... why didn't we do that? I dunno. The 456 had a precedent of bad behavior being condoned?? Hard to say. :p

Seriously. Hell, you don't even need to mention him.

456: We want ten percent.
Jack: Uh, yeah, we'll get right on that. Hey, do you guys know the Daleks at all?
456: ... ... ... ... Yes.
Jack: Well, they're pretty hardcore, you wouldn't screw with them, am I right?
456: ... ... ... Yes.
Jack: Okay, now think about this - we're the only race that's ever really fought them and won.
456: ... ... (INCOMPREHENSIBLE SCREAMING AND TENTACLE FLAILING)
Jack: And the Cybermen, and the Sontarans, and whooo boy, just about everybody else including stopping a renegade Time Lord about a hundred times.
456: ... ... ... Peace out, human bitches. It's been real.

Good question. Here are two answers.

1) Lots of aliens don't think that through, like the Sycorax in the Christmas Invasion, the Krillitanes in School Reunion, the Attraxi in the Eleventh Hour, and on and on. Some folks wise up faster than others, but in the ends lots of advanced races make this mistake.

2) the 456 are junkies.

True, true.
Wow, you know I hadn't thought of it, but that explains the insanely long pauses in their speech: they were gonna communicate effectively, but then they got high(ooo-woo-ooo).
