Oh fine, I'll do this one
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Um... huh. Ran up $1000 in bank fees in 3 months? I'm still insanely appalled by that.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't really make any. Have a few for next year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
There were several births on my radar. Most of them were full of yay, one messed me up more than a little for a while, but whatever.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. There were a couple of deaths over the summer that made me blink, but they weren't anyone close.
5. What countries did you visit?
Ha. Countries.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Money and focus and a blessed lack of crushing depression.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
8/29/10. We got keys to 21.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Ugh, lets not talk about that.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Finances.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well, I got chicken pox for the 4th time and my brainmeat's been out to get me the entire time. Other than that, it's been relatively okay.
11. What were the best things you bought?
Gracious, I can't think of a single purchase I made that I was crazy about. Most of my joys this year were from little things, gifts, books and stuff that didn't cost anything.
I will say this though - Netflix through the Wii is an amazing and wonderful thing.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I don't know about celebration-worthy behavior, but there were a few celebration-worthy events this year. Mostly weddings, starting/finishings of school, and gratuitous acts of putting up with me. Oh and that woman that
purpura posted about today that gave her a clean pair of pants and socks for her son after a bathroom accident in Barnes and Noble deserves a medal. Like seriously, that was a faith in humanity completely restored from almost zero moment right there.
13. Whose behaviour appalled you?
There was sadly a lot more appalling behavior than not this year, but I think the prize goes to running the eff out of the supermarket without saying hello to your godchildren because you ran into your ex.
14. Where did most of your money go?
survival and overdraft.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Kid weekends, Scott Pilgrim, moving, gaming, books, bells, KITTEHZ.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
"FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU." (ooh ooh ooh) "Whip My Hair." All Day. I don't care if it's broken up into individual tracks, that album is one song.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? about the same
ii. thinner or fatter? somewhat thinner. I lost about 30 pounds in the beginning of this year, I put about 10-15 of it back on. I'm okay with that.
iii. richer or poorer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Reading. Walking. Creative stuff. Crafting. Working.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Farting about on the internet.
20. How will you be spending Christmas and/or New Year's?
Heading home to NY, then out to the Poconos for Christmas. Psyching myself up for the Roman Decadence party on New Years. What's this I hear about them lowering Snooki instead of the ball this year? I mean, it's a large pole so I get it but seriously, what?
22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Yes, but only with the same person I've been continuously falling in love with for the past couple years.
23. How many one-night stands?
Heh. I don't really do those. But I had no real opportunity for those this year.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Gotta say, 30Rock has grown on me like a fungus. But I'm quite happy to have picked up Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy this year as well. And cell23 has succeeded where all others have failed and made me into a Doctor Who/Torchwood fan.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Dear fates yes. I want Useless Former Roommate to die in a fire. Preferably rotisserie style on a spit.
26. What was the best book you read?
Interestingly enough, two books beginning a series with "Game" in the title - The Hunger Games and A Game of Thrones. Also really enjoyed Cryoburn.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Possibly Albannach? And Sex Bob-omb, but they're fictional so I don't know if they count. It's hard thinking of music when everything in my head musical is being taken up by Girl Talk.
28. What did you want and get?
A new address in a complex full of OMGNERDZ with the man I love.
29. What did you want and not get?
A kitty is the big thing, but I expect that'll get addressed next year.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
I didn't get to the movies much, but I will say that Scott Pilgrim was everything I wanted in a movie.
Drat, I still need to see Harry Potter. Is it even still out? anyone wanna see it with me?
31. What did you do on your birthday?
Not much honestly - I ended up driving to Boston to get the kids a day earlier than usual and then a couple days later they helped me bake birthday cake. Honestly I'm okay with that. 32 isn't a big birthday year.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The ability to smite people at will from any distance? Oh and obviously money.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I didn't really have one, though I've been attempting to dress a bit more like a grown-up and less like an overgrown college student. This would be easier on me if women's grown-up clothes were a) not polyester b) made of the thinnest material ever c) were actually remotely comfortable. I've pretty much defaulted to black slacks and ribbed turtlenecks this winter. And my one Liz Lemon sweater. But I'll admit, when it gets super cold I'm all "fuck this noise" and I hoodie it the fuck up. Sometimes being comfortable trumps all.
34. What kept you sane?
cell23. Squirekids. harinezumi. Team Tatro. The Internet.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
BARROWMAN *shakes fist* Not for me, but I could watch him kiss other hot guys all damn day. *cough*James Marsters*cough*
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm thrilled that DADT is dead. Other than a near constant horror of the things that are allowed to fall out of Sarah Palin's mouth, I admit, I haven't been paying all that much attention.
37. Who did you miss?
A lot of people I don't see every day. I'll admit that lately it's mostly the kiddos. The house is kinda quiet and empty when they aren't here.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Gracious, who did I meet this year? I can't really think of any major standouts, which is kinda sad. I've had a lot of friendships kinda ripen up some, so I'm not complaining too hard.
