I went back last night.

So much of the World has changed, and yet has stayed the same. I spent my first few minutes wandering various familiar locales, staring goggle eyed at the bits of the landscape that have shifted, jarring against the well known and familiar. I played with new types of people briefly, unable to wrap my head around their presence within my World. And then after an hour or so of checking in on the characters I had left behind, I gave myself a shake, gave myself a new identity, and plunged into the business as usual of starting over somewhere from scratch.

My superego rolls her eyes and reminds me, futilely, that i have better things to do with my time, to which I respond "like what, Reddit and [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt?" To which she shuts up. I know myself - in the void created by taking away one form of procrastination, I will quickly replace it with something else, rather than the thing I am procrastinating from like I should.

In the background, [livejournal.com profile] cell23 hovers, unused to being a game widow. This amuses me.

I have seven days and an upgrade to Cataclysm, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] head58. I also have the option to express train a character to 85, which I'm still debating on whether to use. Unlike most players of WoW I like the process of leveling and exploring. Not here for the endless endgame/raids. I may use it to cap out my long disused main, as I returned to find my guild still reasonably active and I could stand to catch up and resume my officer stuff, but again... I haven't done most of the level 60-85 content, owing to the last expansion I actively purchased being Burning Crusade. That should tell you how long I'd been away.

But, those are decisions for later. Right now, in among the crazy my life becomes between worrying about the wedding and my looming joblessness at the end of the month, the process of leveling a brandy new character is surprisingly soothing. We'll see if I get bored after my seven days are up. :)
