Had a fun moment on the commute down where my tires were very clearly not touching any sort of pavement as I was exiting the Pike. Wheee. Luckily I'd been being careful on the way down so I pulled out of the skid pretty quick, but....whee. Happy winter. Two months early. The seasons for 2009 are so fired.

Spent yesterday along for the ride to visit [livejournal.com profile] head58, and was quite amusedly neck deep in Tatros, three of whom spend a good amount of time running all over the house being children. Reminds me of weekends at Nuke's about a decade ago, lol. I'm not sure whether it's growing up in New York, or a fair amount of time in my late teens having to watch the older of the siblings' kids (who were all pretty rowdy in their own ways), but I'm discovering that I'm pretty impervious to noise. Which is excellent when interacting with overexcited 8, 5, and 2 year olds. Or maybe not interacting so much as bemusedly watching them run circuits around the living room yelling.

I still seem to have that problem with alcohol where I don't realize that different things come in different strengths, and that most things I like to drink are quite a bit stronger than 5%. (Case in point, I had a small bottle of pomegranate vodka last night, which profoundly scrambled my brainmeats, but in a nice, giggly overaffectionate way... and somehow made watching Flight of the Conchords even more hilarious.) Thankfully I also still have a pretty strong sense of where my cutoff is, as I had no real ill effects from it either, other than seriously amusing [livejournal.com profile] cell23. Yes, this is an ill effect. No I don't know why. At least I hadn't gotten to the point of raucously singing Soviet anthems. Maybe next time.

I'm heading down to the City next weekend - I'm way overdue for a visit, and what with winter showing up to the party early, things like all my sweaters and my peacoat need to happen. More importantly, I'm bringing [livejournal.com profile] cell23 down with me to meet Dad. I've already had Amanda ask if I still knew any witchery or voodoo (??!) that would tranform her into a fly so she could watch this particular meeting. *facepalm* Honestly knowing my family and how gossip gets around, I have this sinking suspicion that a good percentage if not all of them are suddenly going to find excuses to be in town next weekend. Course if that happens, maybe I can sweet talk Dad into dinner at the mob front Marco Polo's or La Cabana while we're down.

This week is for cleaning and organizing and other grown up shit. And working out. My ankle feels better, so time to once again hop to it. And for fucks sake, pumpkins. I have done NOTHING about/for Halloween this year (note to self... pumpkin tennis rolls...???), this needs to be fixed like Now... but first, since I risked neck and car getting my ass down here this morning, I should do the stuff they pay me for for a while first.
