Not much doing. We got an inch of snow. Let me reiterate that. One. Inch. 1". Terror and runs on supermarkets and school closings and OMGWTFSNOWMAGEDDON... for one. inch.
Old man winter? you and me? we're fucking done professionally.
In other news, I'm sure those of you with gmail have noticed a brandy new form of permanently jacked into the net silliness called Buzz. I am not at all sure I like this, but that may be because I'm kind of approaching my patience/limit with Twitter and facebook as it is and so another form of exchanging inane information on daily life isn't quite doing it for me. Interface-wise I kinda like buzz - I can patch twitter through it, so that's nice, and I figured out how to rig it so my LJ entries get posted too... but I would have liked the opportunity to opt in rather than have it automatically just be all like SURPRISE! SOCIAL NETWORKING OMG. First of all I know a lot more people rabidly privacy conscious about this sort of thing than I am and I'm quite sure this is opening up a world of bitch for Google from these folks. Also I would have liked there to have been an option to turn it off right at the beginning instead of hunting for the near minuscule and impossible to see link at the bottom of my gmail screen to turn it off on all address but the one I actually use for personal shit, especially since I now use kjpepper as my work email/spambox. Also not cool with it mining my address books for people to "follow" would have liked the option to pick. kjpepper has not only my work stuff but the addresses of at least six or seven people I'm not cosy with hearing from or about so seeing them all show up in my feed was more than a little jarring and unpleasant. Meh. Resolved it mostly by turning it off entirely in kjpepper and rabidly unfollowing various and sundry in bottledgoose... and did go so far as to hook up twitter, picasa and this journal by way of google reader, so no major harm done, I suppose. I think the other thing is that I partially thing that Google labs is just trying to keep itself busy at this point - I still have not found any practical use for Wave, and I'm still kind of weirdly disappointed by that. So we'll see.
I think I want to start an anti-social network. it'll just consist of millions of people on the internet telling the rest of the internet to STFU and GTFO, cause nobody cares. Or you know, start a group on facebook. That'll be meta.
Back at work today after two days of digestive and brain ick. Still not 100% in either department, but much improved. Perhaps and evening of being petted and spoiled by the man did it, though I suspect the infusion of
aersi's raspberry cobbler assisted mightily.
<--REQUITE MY LOVE, INTERBUTTZ. I DEMAND VALIDATION.
