Last night I was thoroughly and utterly defeated by this cake:

That is what is referred to as a Pink Lady Cake. Made from scratch by [livejournal.com profile] deliriumdeva, including the frosting, with some help from me and [livejournal.com profile] cell23 (the flour had to be sifted twice, ow my hand) in between bouts of Rock Band attacks. Just to give you an idea of how hardcore that cake is, the batter had like four sticks of butter and actual pureed strawberries in it. And that's cream cheese frosting. With like a holy god amount of cream cheese. Like three whole packages of it. And there are three layers of cake under all that frosting just so ya know. I think both my coronary arteries and my pancreas just looked at the finished cake, said "that's it, we're done for" and just white flagged right there.

All that said it was fucking delicious... and I must say, sitting at a table with [livejournal.com profile] cell23, [livejournal.com profile] deliriumdeva, and [livejournal.com profile] renegadethumper when all of us are thoroughly sugar rushed is equally as entertaining as sitting with the same people when all of us are drinking. The only problem was it was 11:30ish by the time we actually got around to eating the cake, and sugar high + overtired from yesterday's emotional shenanigans ends up not being a happy Andee. Crashing afterward meant my ability to regulate my internal temperature shut down so I was completely freezing when I went home/to bed, even with four blankets and a man-furnace (in retrospect I probably should have turned the mattress pad on but I was quite literally too cold to really think straight), and then after that I managed to have a nightmare bad enough to wake up [livejournal.com profile] cell23 (pitch dark room, unseen things chasing me while giggling horribly and slashing at me with really sharp knives, really fun times) amid other fucked up dreams. Long story short, after a couple months of barely eating the stuff, I think I've lost my tolerance for that amount of sugar at once. Holy god.

It was fantastic cake though, going to have to steal the recipe from [livejournal.com profile] deliriumdeva recipe linked above. Nom nom nom. And hey she has a sifter, so I can finally make pancake flour, woot woot!

Has anyone seen either my copies of Miles, Mystery and Mayhem and The Master and Margarita? I managed to get the extra shelf into the bookcase yesterday and reorganized the library some... and I'm super annoyed that I can't find either of them. Oh well. The good thing is that I was able to list a bunch of shit on Paperback Swap, and already the two Pratchetts I put up have been claimed, whoo (yes, I realize this is sacrilegious, but I do not like Terry Pratchett. The only book of his that I've been able to stand was Good Omens, and that's cause there was Gaiman mitigating the whole Pratchettness of it all.) So hopefully I'll get to send out the claimed stuff on Monday and be able to get some books myself. Mostly slowly replacing series I no longer have.

Today is bright and sunny and I have a shrink appointment later on today. Hopefully I can get some work done and lay off the anxiety? maybe? Also trying to figure out what the bejesus to do with myself this weekend since I swear all of Sunderland is emptying out to go either to PAX or to Conbust. Anyone fancy an Andee-visit? Have working car and a little gas money, can travel...

Ugh. Crappy week is crappy, but I'm hoping it's turned a corner finally. I've got Plans for this weekend. and I'd like it if my brain were operating at least at 75% capacity

Three happy things today:

1) Finding out that the Starbucks card I had kicking around was worth $25. I so needed that caramel mochiwhateveritwas this afternoon, you have no idea.

2) Treating myself to Wings Over for the first time in about 3 years. Dear gods, I'd forgotten how fucking delicious Hangar wings are. and I have enough left over for lunchies tomorrow.

3) Scott Pilgrim vs The World trailer dropping today... and it does not look like its sucks. I'm suspecting that this is a case where the trailer might well be way better than the movie, but I'm open to being surprised. And the girl playing Ramona Flowers is terrifyingly adorable (big brown eyes!), if a little skinny for my taste. So... cautiously optimistic.

And now I'm going to peel myself from the computer and seeing about entering a vegetative state somewhere else...
