Beadventure!
May. 10th, 2011 06:00 pmso yesterday I was all "hey,
deliriumdeva, wanna go on a beadventure with me?" and she was all YES so today we indeed ventured out on an adventure that turned out to be a quest for small round things.
Obviously we started out at Northampton Beadery, where I bought quite a bit ofcrack supplies for the wristbands I posted about earlier, thread, new needles (it's astonishingly easy to lose these frustratingly skinny needles I use for this sort of thing) and of course some beads. It doesn't look like I'm going to be starting with gold tones, as those vials were O_o expensive, but something to know for later. and of course more black. Probably going to at least warp the loom tonight, if not get a far bit started. As expected, while I dithered in the delicas,
deliriumdeva wandered the store oohing over interesting beads and charms. I had chosen my creative companion well.
Small round thing #2 turned out to be maki rolls, as we stopped off at Teapot to partake of combination roll lunch specials. (I'd like to note my displeasure at the disappearance of Taipei & Tokyo from downtown. Le sob. That's been my go-to Chinese/Japanese place for like a decade and a half, what the hell.) Oh Philly rolls, why are you so delicious? While lunching we discussed how our outing suddenly seemed to have a theme and what we could do next to adhere to it. I suggested gumballs or bouncyballs.
#3 - lo and behold, while stopping first at The Mercantile and then upstairs to Haven Body Arts what did we find but a gumball machine! I have my iffies on Penelope as a person, but I've always respected her as a piercer, and I like her new shop a lot, especially the sheer range of body jewelry she carries. Alas, a lot of the really cool stuff she carries is for gauges of piercings I will never have (it's a very good day if I can fit a 16 into my ears), but she is so far the only shop in the valley that carries 14K gold captive bead rings, which I've been looking for FOREVER. So now I know. :) Course, now I have the piercing/tattoo itch again. Probably a good thing I don't have money for such silliness.
All in all a satisfactory adventure indeed, and a rousing thank you to
deliriumdeva for being willing to come with me!
And now some cuddle time with the sweetie and then CRAFT TALK.
