Impending wedding = thinking a bit about music you would and would not like played at said wedding, if your wedding is going to be the sort that includes dancing. Under that umbrella is the dreaded category of line dances.

Most people I know have an unabashed hatred of line/group dances. Never understood why - I mean, yes they are silly and you look silly doing them, but they are also an expression of celebration that crosses barriers. Say what you want about the Macarena, you know how to do it, no matter how much you deny it. There's a reason why human females do it in WoW. It's kinda... ingrained in there, along with the chorus of "We Will Rock You," what you do after "just a jump to the left" or, if you're from this strange country known as the Commonwealth of Massachussetts, the callback lines for "Sweet Caroline." Memetic information didn't originate with the Internet, y'all.

Line dances are kind of in the same boat. And I do know an appalling lot of them and rarely get a chance to DO them unless the Brownes are throwing a party, and even though I don't get to do the "white" ones, lol, like the Chicken Dance or the Cotton-Eyed Joe. Oh Cotton-Eyed Joe. Someday I will be in-shape enough to do the ENTIRE song. As it is, I get winded and asthma-y after the first verse and have to stop.

Interestingly enough, one of the more interesting bits of trivia I picked up in belly dance class: Y'all know this song, right?

Wellp, guess what.

Yep. It's a line dance. And has lyrics. About star crossed lovers or something, lol. But yeah, we actually learned it. Grapevine step is surprisingly tricky when you're holding on to people's pinkies.

Anyway. There will be line dances at my wedding. I will be amused to see who gets up and does them with me.
