anagramofbrat: (mass autumn)
Oh jeez has it seriously been a week since my last confession post? Whoops. Bullet list is GO.

  • Currently on the tail end of a work project I'm actually quite proud of. Public post so I'm not gonna discuss it in detail but I think it's one of the neatest little things I've ever coded.

  • The shambling hordes of students return this weekend. Though I have long since gained a healthy townie disdain for the mass of stressed out and often drunken teenagers, I am looking forward to the buses all being back on normal schedule next week. Summer schedule is the absolute blurst.

  • A new restaurant opened in downtown Amherst, so the husbeast and I tried it along with a couple of friends. While it has the rather unfortunate name of "Oriental Flavor" the food is terrific and I may have developed raging needs for soup bao and pork buns.

  • still beading. Nothing big, mostly wee game sprites right now as I don't want to jump into another big thing just yet. And designing stuff to do that isn't a copyrighted? thing.

  • The tomato plants are still putting out a fair amount, and the habaneros are ready to come off. I have an excess of basil, and the strawberry plant has decided to put out strawberries. I should take pictures. I don't think I'm doing peas again - two years of attempts haven't yeilded much. I think next year I'll do chard again or maybe lettuce. I like salads...

  • I have finally fallen down the tumblr rabbit hole. I find that I still can't stand it and won't check it on my desktop but it is exactly just the silly mindless thing to play with on my phone to pass the time. Plus toying with the idea of using it to market my bead stuff. (same username if you wanna friend.)

  • We have the kids this weekend! Excited for two reasons: tomorrow I'm taking Wee Beastie to meet my coworker's daughter, who is into things like star wars and the hobbit and Iron man and (insert small nerd thing here). She is also a bossy stubborn six year old. They're either going to get on like a house on fire or hate each other on sight. Co-worker and I are quite interested in seeing what happens there. If it works out, that's one avenue of Operation Keep Annoying Little Brother Out of Kidzilla's Hair, which as she's getting older and craving more her-space, is becoming a necessary thing.

As for her, we are celebrating her birthday on Monday, and I'm more excited than I probably should be about her present because I'm giving her a purple 3DS and Drew got her Pokemon Black and her grandmother pre-ordered Pokemon X for her and maybe maybe I can also squeeze in Animal Crossing and OMG BABY'S FIRST PORTABLE CONSOLE EEEEEEEEE. Also how is this kid going to be nine already omg I've known her since she was young enough to find her feet tasty and interesting. This is simply not on. Course if I order her to quit growing up, she'll give me this "What is wrong with you" look and be all "Um, I can't." Love that girl. May she get older, but never change.

  • Monday is Labor Day. I have made it through another Season of Discontent (seriously, fuck you, summer), and Autumn is coming. May the leaf colors be rich, the back to school sales be festooned in unmined black notebooks and fancy pencils*, and the Halloween stuff be fabulous. Oh and holy crap, I'm turning 35. Damn, I am old.

* omg so I was in Staples yesterday picking up my thank you cards (no I haven't done them yet, shut up) and I saw they had beaded plastic crystal chandeliers for your locker. That actually light up. My 12 year old self may have been screaming in covetous outrage for hours.
