It occurs to me that I wouldn't mind having a plush spotted herbaceous backson. It can be friends with the plush Alot that I also want to exist.

Anyway. I keep meaning to post so-called Real Entries, but between work, accidentally long naps, and all consuming to-do lists, not to mention my entire left arm is made of pain right now for reason detailed below, I haven't managed to make it happen. And I'm not really making it happen here either. All involved, including myself, will have to be content with a bulleted list of Stuff From This Week.

  • Green things: somewhat grumpy that due to some kind of mishap where the cutting got knocked out of its shot glass and then mooshed, I lost it. I did try to save it by plopping it in some dirt, but apparently not so much - the leaves turned brown and fell off this morning so I resigned myself to having to go back to the pots on Button street and grab another cutting. Mildly upset because that was two weeks of root establishment gone, but not a complete loss.

Also lost TV's frank this morning. Oh well, I tried. Hopefully Dr Forrester'll make it, but it's looking dicey. Note to self- I'm okay with tomatoes and strawberries, not so good with cukes. Good to know for next year.

Going to have to put some plastic down on the kitchen floor and actually bring in all the plants on Saturday due to the HOLY CRAP HURRICANE barrelling up the coast at us, but more on that later.

    Lastly this.

I so want to do some version of this somehow next year. It just looks so damn cool. A wall garden made out of soda bottles! awesome.

  • I had a list of things I wanted to post about on my iPod, one of which being the number 161. I have no idea what it is anymore. I clearly remember typing it in and thinking "I'll remember what I mean later" but I apparently fail in the memory department.

  • Hit the doc's for my physical yesterday. Left cranky and angry with a sore ass shoulder. No fault of my doctor, but I did have a tetanus and flu shot in my left shoulder (ow) and bandaids on both hands from unsuccessful blood draws. Damn skinny widdle veins. Being taken out for BBQ at Bubs helped head off a full blown evil at the pass because [livejournal.com profile] cell23 is awesome.

Oh, remember how I've been having periodic trouble with my right ear all summer in that I'll wake up some mornings with it completely clogged? I assumed I had a wax impaction, but nope. Swimmers ear. Fuuuuuuuuuuck. So I get to pick up eardrops tomorrow and suffer through that for a week. Yay.

OH. That's what the 161 is about. Talk about a weight I haven't seen since my junior year in high school. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Tornadoes (which I wasn't near), Earthquakes (which I didn't feel) and now Irene? Goddamn, summer 2011, what is up with you? I mean, it wasn't a very big quake - I didn't feel it at all and only became aware something happened when my boss and all of User Support started freaking the hell out. Clearly Mother Nature is having a "Bored now" moment. Also really heavy rain and some neat echoey thunder tonight so there were OMGToads! hopping like mad all in the grass to chase around for a bit. I like toads. I also like brandishing salmonella fingers at [livejournal.com profile] cell23 after handling them. Yes, sometimes I am a six year old boy. :)

  • Torchwood and True Blood continue to break my head/amuse me on a weekly basis. and OMG the Doctor returns this weekend! Well that'll be something to watch while battening the hatches, eh?

So yeah. While I've been sorta quiet lately it doesn't mean I haven't been busy. Quite the opposite in fact.

Current or goal??

I am so in love with that hanging garden. Can't do it at my current place but definitely an option when I move back to Trinidad.

Yeah, I've been super into that for days now, since whenever Miss Andee posted it on G+. I'm thinking I might do that on one of our fences next year.

i love the concept of the bottle garden, but it just seems like there wouldn't be a whole lotta dirt in each of those. so you'd end up with very shallow root systems, and you'd need to either replace the dirt each year or use plenty of fertilizer to keep the soil from wearing out.
