Note: I had 3/4 of a bottle of chardonnay so I'm a wee bit impaired right now. Gods I'm a cheap date, hee hee.

Anyway. Too tired and smashed to make a real post but I will just leave a list of where [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I stomped today:

  • Forbidden Planet (NY Nerd Mecca #1)

  • Strand Bookstore (so many goddamn books... ahhh)

  • Herald Square/Macy's/Penn Station/Empire State area (note to self, decent $1 pizza place across from Penn Station on 7th)

  • The Compleat Strategist (NY Nerd Mecca #2)

  • Museum of the Moving Image (specifically the Jim Henson/Muppet exhibit. Muppets are much bigger than you expect in person, though it makes sense, seeing as they have to accommodate a puppeteer's entire arm. I also may have had a nuclear aposqueelypse upon seeing a Miss Piggy wearing the froofy wedding gown from The Muppets Take Manhattan. Also finding out the rumors of playable arcade games from the early 80s were true was pretty damn cool too. Though I continue to royally suck at Space Invaders)

  • Katz's Delicatessen (no, I did not fake an orgasm there, although both my chicken noodle soup and [livejournal.com profile] cell23's corned beef sandwich were certainly worth doing so.)

  • NYU/West Village/some fun places featured in the main titles of Louie CK's show/Hollywood Diner (damn, forgot the name of the goth/steampunk clothing store we passed that seems to be valiently trying to fill the void left by the Funhouse when it closed years ago... which sucks because [livejournal.com profile] cell23 wanted to tell Atramoria about it.)

We were gonna hit the Way Station bar on the way home, but honestly after eleven hours of pounding pavement and several annoying subway service delays/reroutes I was too tired and annoyed to deal with going so we came home, I made fun of Dad about his hot date (whom he took to Saks for lunch! lolwtf) asked him if it was okay to pop open a bottle of something out of his wine collection and proceeded to get rather inebriated sharing a bottle of a decent white with [livejournal.com profile] cell23.

Tomorrow is the Marathon, which is going to make escaping the city difficult, if not impossible, so [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I are leaving later in the afternoon/evening than earlier. Meantime I'm going to cook both of the menfolk breakfast and probably watch the beginning of the marathon on TV.

I might add that I am so not in any kind of shape for extended walking around NY anymore. My sore, let me show you it. Ow.

FYI -- the school at Vanderbilt and Lafayette (which I believe is fairly close to where you are, and the G train is running too) sets up its school band on the sidewalk; the runners go past on Lafayette in the morning -- and they play the theme to "Rocky" in a continuous loop for them. It's adorable.

I heart the Strand too much. I'm guaranteed to spend a fortune every time I go.

Also, did you know there's a store that sells nothing but rice pudding in NoLita? So, so yummy.
