anagramofbrat: (winter holiday)
Its been an up and down sort of day, which sorta sucks because while the ups were very up, the downs were very aiiiiich.

Ups:
  • Took Kidzilla to see The Muppets, as Lil'beast decided at the last minute he didn't want to go to the movies, so it was just us gals and a dark theater full of reasonably well behaved families (thank heavens). The Muppets, I am happy to report, is fantastic, and I say that because I cried twice during it. (Kidzilla didn't notice.) No seriously if you haven't seen it, go fix that now.

  • spent the entire car ride back up 116 entertaining Kidzilla with a made up song about really really really having to pee. Which I did. Full bladders are high comedy for the seven year old demographic.

  • Ventured back out into the fray with the entire Tatro contingent to do a bit of shopping at B&Ns. Bribed Kidzilla into good behavior during the trip with a new book (she selected one of the Warriors series - gotta check that out sometime, as she's completely gaga for it). Eh, even a couple of cranky kids and a similarly frazzled Manbeast didn't quite dull the whole "TRIP TO BOOKSTORE YAY" aspect of things.

  • The weekend has been peppered with sweet cuddly moments with the cat, both kids, and especially [livejournal.com profile] cell23. You would think there was some special reason for him to be all goopy at me or something.

  • I seem to have partially conquered the massive, daunting programming problem I'd set myself re: sqwrrl. I've said this before, but it bears repeating - I hate programming, but I do actually love that first thrill of running a piece of code and having it WORK for the first time.

  • I started french braiding Kidzilla's hair (one on each side) in an effort to keep her hair from snarling up after an hour of tussling around with her brother and father. Turns out she looks really really good with her hair braided and she likes the style, so I've been keeping it up all weekend. It's odd how much older she looks with her hair away from her face, especially when she's got Serious Face on. Not to mention the crimpy riot her hair explodes into when we let the braids down. I'll have to take pics when she sits still long enough.

  • Realized it's past Thanksgiving and such the season of Rampant Materialism, Personal Greed, Crazy Lights, Eggnog, and Songs Containing Sleigh Bells begins. Cynicism aside, I love the holiday season (even if Christmas itself stresses me out) and left the car radio on the Christmas carol station, singing along when I could. My unholy love for "Jingle Bell Rock" abounds. And well, you know. I might have updated my Amazon wish list. I might even have narrowed it down to things I'd specifically like for Christmas even.

  • Getting used to having a ring on 24/7. I've also discovered that my fingers apparently swell during the night or something at any rate the ring's nicely snug in the morning. Meanwhile, yeah, I've been doing a lot of looking down at my hand and squeeing. Oh BTW if you aren't on the wedding filter yet and actually want to hear me blathering on like a girl about such things, drop me a line. I'll try not to be TOO disgusting.

Downs:
  • Attack uterus attacked this morning, so I've been cranky and sore in the abdominals all day, not to mention the related head and back achey. Would also explain the three or four days of pure hatred of everything leading up to Thanksgiving.

  • Kidzilla after a day of being good and being treated, sprouted demon horns and cloven feet around dinner, which persisted until [livejournal.com profile] cell23 had to drag both kids into bath and bed. Paging Dr. Whiskey indeed.

  • EPeen caught one of those nasty viruses that fake being an offbrand antivirus and try to lock down your entire computer until you're scared enough to actually buy their fake product. Except [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I are thankfully a bit smarter than that. The good news is we did eventually get it hunted down and killed, the bad news is it took the better part of last night and today to get it once and for all. Clean install of Win 7 is definitely top of my priority list. Wellp, she's better now, but ugh. Annoying.

  • Exhaustion is creeping up on me again. Kids + too much excitement + holidays + money stressing = Andee turns into wet noodle of tired. Thinking I may invest in some iron supplements; I tend to do better when I'm not frakking anemic all the time. I'm sure having rampaging uterus isn't helping either.

  • Starting to very strongly suspect that I may have developed a sensitivity to corn and its associated products. Which sucks - I love corn. Not to mention corn syrup is fucking everywhere. Thinking a resolution for next year is gonna be seeing about cutting it out of my diet completely. Also see "eat more soy things." Feh.

  • I am in a house bereft of ice cream and am a) too tired to get any b) have the con re: keeping an ear on the kids, as [livejournal.com profile] cell23 needed some "hang with people whose ages are in the double digits" time. Le sigh.

So yeah. Ups. Downs.

Have you tried deep conditioning her hair?

Date: 2011-11-27 04:49 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] anagramofbrat.livejournal.com
Yep. Her hair eats everything with no change in texture. Including apparently, elmer's glue; she was supposed to have a mohawk for her halloween costume, but the glue wouldn't take.

That said, it's neither dry nor brittle, nor even all that frizzy. She just has the finest, wispiest individual strands I've ever seen - think blond cobwebs - and she has a LOT of it. Thin hair is not going to be a problem for this girl.

Now that you mention it though, I do wonder what a half hour slathered in cholesterol would do for her. I think I still have some around somewhere.

That's actually pretty similar to my hair, except mine is fine, wispy, fluffy, and curly -- and chlosterol/protein conditioning calms it down a lot...

just a thought! you actually see her hair, so yeah.

I use coconut oil on my hair, a bit at a time and add more if I need it. Can't hurt Kidzilla's hair and might help.

Would be delighted to be on the filter, if I'm not already on it. I love watching other people be giddy. :)

Do you still have your appendix? I can't remember if I told you this before, but there's some link between ulcerative colitis and crohns and the appendix. Some research has shown removing the appendix can make a difference (I think it's in a low percentage, like 30% of people have relief after an appendectomy). Anyway.

Paleo diet. My stepdaughter swears by it. It's changed her life. Totally!

Oh I TOTALLY want to be on the bridezilla filter. You are going to have me rolling with your aghast and righteous indignation.

it's well and already started. I signed up for theknot and immediately ran away screaming.

I can't.

while I'm missing at least two and possibly more inches of intestine, I'm pretty sure my appendix is still in there chilling out like "WORD UP FOOL."

You're not the only one who has recommended paleo to me. While I side-eye any benefits touted by a fad diet, I do admit that had I the budget for such things, there is something quite appealing to eating only veggies, eggs and dead thing.

Squee! I'd love to be on your wedding filter. :)
