1) What's your favorite flower?
Roses. While i like the hothouse variety well enough, I like the smaller, scrubbier, more fragrant kind that tend to wander unattended in forgotten or unkempt gardens the best. We used to have one in the front yard of The House that had the prettiest little yellow flowers. And we still have some in the back that my mom planted years ago that have since run wild. Dad occasionally ventures out and cuts bouquets for the table. It's kinda cute.
2) You take awesome photos. What was your learning process like? Any formal classes or just trial and error?
I do? lol, sorry, I'm one of those people that looks at a picture I've taken and thinks "ugh, the white balance is off" or "that's out of focus, damn it" blah blah blah.
Mostly it's trial and error. I've been a shutterbug for as long as I remember, from a family of shutterbugs. (Dad's photo albums from various holidays, man.) I remember my first camera and the horrible 100 ISO film it took. It took me years to figure out that the higher the number the better chance i had of an indoor photo coming out as something other than a brown muddy mess, and another few years to get that the higher the number the grainer the shot. Occasionally there will be something I'll want my camera to do that I can't figure out and I'll bug the internet or someone who knows what they're doing for help. The rest of it is all Photoshop and picasa, which I'm better at than in-camera effects. I keep meaning to take a class with the Hatemonger, but never seem to have the time, attention or money.
3) Who's your least favorite character on Avatar: The Last Airbender and why?
That is a tough call, I like all of the main cast a lot. I suppose of all of the main characters I find Katara the least interesting/engaging, though she goes through some INTERESTING stuff in season 3. But I guess I relate more to the rest of them than to her - she just seems very mary-sueish.
4) What's the best thing about living in the Pioneer Valley right now? Do you think it will change in the future?
There are lots of things I like about living here. The geek/poly/kink cluster, the food, the autumns… Of course there are lots of things I dislike as well, rowdy students, hipsters, the fact that some days I can't go four feet without running into someone I know, for good or ill.
5) Say there's some crazy situation where you can only eat one of these types of foods for the rest of your life: Japanese, Italian, or Mexican. Which do you choose and why?
Well, not mexican, not a fan. I love Japanese food, but it does have a heavy emphasis on seafood and I'm pretty picky about what I'll eat there. So I guess that leaves me with italian food by default. Which is fine, I love me some cheese and pasta.
