TL;DR: Eh, I'm okay. Life continues apace, even though sometimes it seems unfair that something terrible can happen in your world and the sun keeps rising and setting like it always does.
At this point, now that the major bad news has come down, I'm waiting for the good. Saying things like "It can only go up from here" is just asking for a thumping from the universe, but this late in the week, I'm willing to risk that. And has it ever been a crappy week, what with brainnoise, health wooblies, money related stress and monkeyspace tragedies. I'm seriously looking at the world and being all like "AAAIGHT, GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD NOW PLZ." Even if it's another chard salad or something.
Speaking of which, I'm almost done moving the plants I bought a month ago out of their flats and into their soda bottles. This week I get another garden hook and get the last four potted and out there, and then maybe look into buying a few more starters. Still want peas beans and maybe some sweet peppers, since
cell23 has some habaneros coming. I also wouldn't object to getting and tending a ghost pepper plant for him this year either, since his brother's seemed to do so well last year. And more strawberries. And I should see about repotting the aloe as well, it's getting a little unweildy in their pot.
Save the date cards are done, they just require printing as I found out the hard way that some fancy printers do not play nice with 100lb card stock. Well, thankfully I have a backup plan, and a little time to get the last address I need. I also have an excess of heavy ivory paper, but I'm sure I'll find a use for it. I keep meaning to contact the DJ and forgetting. Need to really get on this and stay on it for a while, get some more details hammered out. I want this to be a good wedding, whatever that means. :)
Been rotting my brains on the Oceans a lot lately. Its funny, I both like and hate playing MMOs for wildly different reasons. Something like Puzzle Pirates, I like how there are no quest chains, you simply log on, figure out what sort of pirate ye be, and self direct yourself there. Which frankly can get a little boring, without other people to puzzle around with but on the other hand other people have other people agendas and those are annoying too so there's a toss up there. But for the most part I tend to prefer sandbox style play rather than get-everyone-to-endgame-as-fast-as-possible styles. Hell I played WoW like that because I despise raiding and found exploring the map far more fun than quest grinding.
But I digress. I'm glade Y!PP still proves fun and distracting on the occasions I return to it. If anything, it's a good game to play with a squirming kid or two on the lap, since it's cute and g rated, you just have to put up with them nagging you to spend your doubloons on a herd of kitty cats.
Gods what else is going on? Reading a lot, check. Mostly YA fantasy fluff. Diverted by Cassandra Clare and Cinda Williams Chima. Clare is pure fluff - it's kind of the fantasy equivalent of the Babysitters Club in so much as I can imagine my mother or other judgeyfacey folk being all WHY ARE YOU READING THAT ITS BENEATH YOU. Same reason I mostly enjoyed my sojourn through the Twilight Saga last year and will probably enjoy 50 Shades of Gray when I get around to seeing what the fuss is about there eventually - it's fun. Sheesh. Not everything has to raise my personal intellectual tone, right?
My Thursday comedies are all done now. Unsure about how I feel about 30 Rock this season - it seemed very uneven in terms of tone, and lots of elements were introduced without much wrap-up. It seemed very much like a setting up pins sort of season, and the strike will be next season, which is rumored to be the final one. Community wrapped up strong, as a series unsure about whether it was ending or not should. Yes, I heard about the Dan Harmon kerfuffle and while I have the proper fannish WTFs, I'm also not quite willing to give entirely up on the series yet. Parks and Rec, well. I haven't teared up at a political speech since Obama's acceptance in 2008, so even though this one was fictional, um… yeah. Knope for City Council indeed.
Gammatrons, as as we're cheekily referring to That Show on HBO Based on Those Books... Also unsure what to think of this season. It's hewing close to the books in terms of season/book 1 being all tightly plotted and establishing its core set of characters, and then season two/clash of kings kind of explodes a bit with new, different characters and wildly sprawling geography and plots that it seems easier than last season to get a bit lost, even if you've actually read the books. Indeed. while I'm still enjoying the show itself, much of my enjoyment actually comes in observing people's reactions to it online, especially those of the "Sweet summer children," aka people who haven't read the books. Some of the shock and speculation is delicious indeed. But yeah... Season one was amazing, hands down... this one, I feel like it deserves an A for effort, but it isn't quite working as well as a whole.
cell23 and I have picked Downton Abbey up again. Oh Maggie Smith. You must really really really enjoy playing meddlesome old bats, because you are EVER so good at it. But yes, it is as weirdly addicting as people have said, despite being a stuffy looking period piece about kind of dislikable people. Something about it does grab you.
Yeah, really that's my life. Whole lot of mundane but contenting things.
