Nothing says OMG EATEN BY WEDDING AND WARCRAFT more than a lack of LJ posts, I think.
It's been a weekend. We had kiddos. They had the plague. One bad thing about Lil'Beast starting kindergarten is the disease vector is now doubled. :( Over the course of the weekend he got over it and Kidzilla contracted it, so it's been 48 hours of cranky miserable sniffly coughy children. But in among that we had some good bits yesterday, namely getting to watch the last two episodes of Doctor Who with them last night, which has pretty much replaced the Saturday movie. It still kills me that Lil'Beast actually DOES hide behind the sofa when he's scared of things onscreen. (I might review the first three eps in another post - I have some OPINIONS.) But yeah, it might say something about the level of cranky in the house yesterday when I point out the other high point of my day being the hour or so running some last minute errands by myself. :P
One moment of hilarity (for me at least) was the early morning argument I woke up to on Saturday morning between
cell23 and Lil'Beast, who like a typical 5 year old did not want to take his medicine. That bit is understandable, but I'm not sure how Lil'Beast got the idea wedged into his hard little head that Daddy was trying to feed him tomato sauce instead of medicine! Seriously, that popped out of his mouth and I had a moment where I had to refrain from guffawing. What the hell, kid. Though in retrospect I have to wonder if he needs to get his eyes checked... Tough call, his mother has 20/20 vision but
cell23 is about as blind as I am sans contacts so... idk.
Today was hectic. We all had to get up and get on out the door early, as
cell23's family (read, his mother) threw us a wedding brunch/shower at The Old Mill in Westminster. Dear fates, y'all the FOOD. I could honestly have used a nap after it all, but we opened presents and fed duckies old pastries instead. (Thems were some fat ducks, y'all.) We got a good chunk of the kitchen stuff we'd stuck on our registry, which was mostly stuff in our kitchen that needed replacing - knives, baking pans/cookie sheets, actual glasses as opposed to Ball jars, and bits of the dinnerware line Drew had from his last wedding that got decimated in the divorce which I liked well enough to add to rather than replace entirely. By contrast, thanks to
head58 and the East Side Tatros (that sounds like an AWESOME band name, btw) we have a framed copy of this:

I shake my head. y'all, but to be fair, they also sent me a 27x40 poster of Rue from The Hunger Games earlier in the week. XD My constant fight against the glaring walls of our apartment continues apace.
After the brunch a lot of the party reconvened at the Red Apple Farm to celebrate Kidzilla's birthday with her, but she was feeling so righteously shitty that she passed on cake and spent most of the time at the party sitting at one of the picnic tables looking and being utterly miserable while her brother was a charming ball of sugared up energy. We had to coax her to open her presents, if that's any indication on how sick kiddo was, though I'm glad she perked up when she unwrapped the Squinkies, Garfield book, marshmallow gun and Doctor Who lunchbox we'd gotten her. But for the most part, she was a stuffy zombie through it. Poor kiddo. Kind of a shame because the Red Apple Farm looks kind of amazing for a day when you're not feeling icky - pick your own apples and pumpkins, pettable farm animals, BBQ to order, cider slushies... yes. Cider slushies. Dear gods.
cell23 and I took a wander around after the party broke up to get a measure of the place. While out there I completely horrified a tweenish boy who was taking pictures of a pen full of admittedly pretty cute bunnies but talking about how some of them looked like good eatin' - man, the LOOK on this child's face had both
cell23 and I in STITCHES later, as did his aghast "That's horrible!" Really, kid, you are on a FARM. At least SOME of the animals you're petting are gonna end up on someone's dining room table come end of year! Also bunnies are delicious.
Anyway.
No real plans for the evening other than watching a certain UK costume soap opera and finding something snacky for cell23 and I, since we're still full from brunch but probably should eat dinner of some sort. After that, a little more wedding planning and then a little tromping around Azeroth before bed. Tomorrow
cell23 and I make a trip to town hall to start the ball rolling for certain bits of paperwork. Dun Dun DUNNNNNN, lol.
Book and TV posts to come. I've been reading and watching shit.
