It's very weird being on this side of the event. Nothing left to stress over or prepare for, no details to obsess over, no worrying about how the families behave with each other, no more mounting horror at various price tags. It's done, it's over. All that's left are thank you cards and announcement cards for people who are probably mad we didn't invite them. Also, I literally hurt from the jaw down. There was some Bon Jovi and Journey at the end of the night that got sung along to so hard that I think I sprained my larynx. Everything else is either the various muscle strains that come from not only wearing 14lbs worth of dress for 8 hours, but dancing, running around and flailing in said getup. The last fast dance was House of Pain, and I think I sprained my everything jumping around. But yeah, it all happened so damn fast... Its very similar to the feeling of watching an express train approach your station... it doesn't always appear to be moving at you so fast, and sometime it seems to be barely moving at all. and then suddenly it whooshes through the station and passes you and suddenly you're watching it leave listening to the doppler effect and being all wait what just happened? (Like this.)
Part of me doesn't want to make a whole big post yet. Partly because I'm still, well, processing it. Also because I kinda want to tell the whole story when Lesley's pictures come back, because she documented the entire thing and I feel like if I try to tell it now without pictures, I'll miss something. And I don't want to miss things - the whole day was amazing. I suppose I can list a few highlights...
- Roy instagramming himself and G rocking their tuxes from the shop.
- Me returning to Amanda's suite after retrieving things from elsewhere in the hotel and hearing "CLICK" at the end of the hallway because Lesley had arrived
- Amanda spraying club soda everywhere and all over everything (including me) while doing my hair
- doing the Can can in my stripy stockings and petticoat before getting the dress on and again at the very end of the night in the full getup
- Alejandra presenting me with her wedding present - she'd painted me lady pirate cats sailing out to have adventures.
- Lil'Beast in a tux. Complete with tiny shiny dress shoes.
- "OMG! You didn't tell me you knew a tall goofy single guy WITH AN ACCENT!" (in reference to
harinezumi)
cell23's face when he first saw me coming down the aisle. I hope Lesley caught it, because it's right up there with these. Mouth dropped open and everything. I had to strongly resist a fist pump of YESSS I LOOK AWESOME
- I'm really glad
aliwings wrote down our ceremony because... yeah, I remember about maybe six words of it, even though I had to repeat more of them back. I remember standing up there, holding
cell23's hands, rolling my eyes at the weather (it had started to drizzle during the ceremony, but thankfully held off actually RAINING until most of the receiving line had gone through) and looking at my groom and being hyper conscious of the fact that I was grinning like a lovesick idiot.
- apparently Vicki's husband decided to stand up and wave when the DJ not only introduced him, but absent members of both Browne and Tatro families. Was a big hit with the room.
- Bridal party marched in to the theme from Game of Thrones. Because we are classy nerds.
- hearing the collective "awww!!" when the first banjo chords of "Rainbow Connection" started up, and later catching glimpses of people sniffling. Later reports had Drew's mother enthusiastically singing along without missing a single lyric.
- Pomegranite martinis. Are fucking delicious.
- Dear gods, the food. It's a pity between constantly being distracted and my intestines/stomach not handling the stress leading up to the wedding at all well I barely touched any of my food, but the food I DID have was amazing.
- The weather cleared up enough to have shmoopy pictures taken outside during the sunset. While we were out there,
cell23's grandfather pointedly came to the patio doors to remind us that the wedding was inside.
- Clear weather in the evening also allowed for illicit s'mores to be made over the firepit at the end of the night, because my friends are amazing and incorrigible. Looks like both
extrajoker and Lesley have a shot of
cell23 putting a flaming marshmallow into his mouth.
extrajoker and
aradiadiane grabbing me, picking me up, hoisting me to their shoulders and running with me from the patio through the reception and out the door all while I'm laughing and screaming my fool head off.
- Nuke attempting to teach Erin's date how to Electric Slide. Mostly failing, but the effort was endearing.
- Dragging Dad up to the dance floor for "Hot Hot Hot" while my sisters led a conga line around us.
- Table "Liberty" (the tables were all named after apple varieties) hijacking their signs and renaming themselves the Enablers. Also finding out that
jaicat's manthing and
sixswordsamurai were previously acquainted made for some small world six degrees weirdness.
htl_1126's dress and how she left a trail of glitter all over EVERYTHING. Her chair at dinner looked like a fairy slaughter. There is still glitter embedded in my boots and my groom, lol.
- Kyle standing up for the bouquet toss, catching said bouquet, then ending up having
omgwtfaninja put my garter on him, to hilarious effect.
- getting to change my name and relationship status everywhere.
- after everyone had gone home, Drew and I changed into bathing suits and went downstairs in our bathing suits because hot tub was SO necessary after all of that. Yes.
There's so much I'm leaving out of that list, lol. It's okay. Whatever I forgot, I'm sure Drew remembers, or Lesley took a picture of, or something.
Today was so, by contrast, low key - just us coming home, placating the cats with tuna, taking a nap for several hours and then cell23 took me to Arigato Sushi and then Bart's for birthday noms. After which we came home, curled up on the couch watched Downton Abbey and marvelled at that whole sudden husband and wife thing. Eh... we'll get used to it eventually. :D
And oh hey, LJ handle change! because I like my four initials, yup.
