How did I manage to get almost halfway though October without bringing back the jack o'lantern icon? Actually, I should scrape through my old icons to see if I can find that old one from WoW where I'd actually managed to get my imp to sit in one of the Hallow's End pumpkins. Maybe. To be honest, lately I feel like I need to ditch my entire roster of LJ icons and find fresher ones. A procrastination project for another day, perhaps.
Yesterday was made of craft-related errands and Halloween themed tittays.
cell23 and I went to the beer and winemaking supply store and the bead store, in other words. He was picking up supplies for making hard cider - since we got a beer making kit for a wedding present, he's been tinkering around with brewing various beverages. Meanwhile I needed to do color research on the project I mentioned last post, which turned out to be more grueling than helpful, though I did leave with a pretty good idea of what I was going to need with regard to supply, if not precisely color - Northampton Beadery's sample color cards are woefully incomplete. But I have a decent idea as to what finishes I want, so that was at least some progress. We also stopped at Different Drummer's Kitchen where I found spice jars! I had a wooden rack I'd rescued from someplace and meant to repurpose for beads, but I didn't have the jars that fit into it. I'm so psyched I found them a) locally b) at the same price as I found online. No shipping charge! Yarr.
I also seem to be going to an Electric 6 concert at the Iron Horse on the 24th.
cell23 and I picked up tickets for us and
omgwtfaninja + his adorable Manzypants while we were erranding. I like their stuff well enough and I hear their concerts are pretty much made of crack-fuelled hilarity, and what the hell, I haven't been to a concert in forever and still kinda sorry I couldn't go with
grinninfoole to see Dead Can Dance a couple months back. This should be fun.
Last night was also Ghoulesque! Like I said, Halloween themed tittays. And Captain Elastico, who performed the Hellraiser/Tiny Bubbles routine again to my intense amount of squee, and then also did a fantastically twisted Buffalo Bill act to follow it up. How I love that tiny supple gay man. I just want to pick him up and nibble the glitter off of him, except I know Hors D'oeuvres would cut a bitch if I tried anything. Cut. A. Bitch.
Burlesque always has the nasty habit of falling on the same weekends as bell performances, so after being out late with the usual Squirespects, I did have to drag myself out of bed early this morning to go to church, which, I tell you, was not made any easier by one fluffy brainless snugglebutt and
cell23 being his normal not really awake "mmmmrrrrphcmere* *glomph*. Sltill, I not only managed to get to practice on time, I managed to do so showered and marginally breakfasted. Now if only I could do that during the week. :P
I expect it's going to be a while until the "whoa, I'm, like, married and shit" weirds fade away. This morning as our choir director was introducing us to the congregation she was all "And this is Andee Browne-Tatro; she got married last weekend" and I was all "Wait, what? Oh yeah that's my name now. Wait, WHAT?" Little things people never warn you about, probably because in time they forget, like the perils of dancing your entire reception in 14 pounds of dress and the constant surreal fog of Holy Shit I'm Married. Sorta makes me sad because I really felt nothing like this after the last time, which I guess should have told me something then, but it's not like I had any basis for comparison. Meh. Iit does give me a little bit of a pause, though. Also its funny, I'm used to seeing
cell23 with a wedding ring, since he was married to
chirping_monkey when I met him; him having some visible symbol of marriage is just normal to me to the point where for the entire time we'd been dating him not having a ring on was the weird state, if that makes any sense. One of those first impressions of a person being the most powerful things, I guess. What IS weird right now is realizing that the ring is there again because of me. I mean, hey I've got one on that matches! The hell! (We keep fist bumping our left hands together in a sort of Wonder Twins! Powers Activate! salute, it's dorktastic.)
So yeah, this whole being married as opposed to getting married thing does take a little getting used to. But one week in and I'm still rather enjoying
cell23's gruff contentment on being able to call me his wife and me not being able to grumble about it anymore. Hell, these days I blush, much to my own bemused frustration. But hey, this also means next time he's in big trouble I can get all West Indian on his ass and bellow 'USBAHND! GET DAHN HEEYAH!" and mean it, so *giggle*
TL;DR life remains good, if a bit surreal in Browne-Tatro land.
Today, alas is kinda gray and rainy and ick out, so it's gonna take twice the effort to sit down and get anything done. However there is Downton Abbey to look forward to tonight and maybe I can work on casting off the Witch while willingly subjecting myself to Crank 2 at
cell23's insistence. Dear Gods, it is SO NICE to have a DVD player again... and one that plays movie files off of thumb drives? Yohofuckingho.
