Wow, I was all of the busy yesterday and today! Not like I was doing super strenuous things but there was an unusual level of running around and not staying home for a weekend without the kids. I'm usually such a homebody that I often forget there is a wide world out there, and sometimes getting out to be in it is a good thing. Also there were Interactions! With other people! That aren't married to me! What is this? How can this be?
Saturday morning
cell23 got up early and went down to the North Hadley sugar shack for breakfast and holy crap. Pro tip, local folk, if y'all go during the remainder of sugaring season? call ahead for a table. It was crooooooooooooooooooooowded! Like 45 min wait for the 2 of us crowded. Luckily the wait gave us time to explore the place, watch the candy making demonstrations, shop a little, and stand in the actual sugar shack part of the place while they boiled the syrup. Dear gods, I never knew the smell of wood smoke and maple was that... it's certainly a smell. We also wandered up to the tiny bit of the petting zoo that was open to hang out for a few minutes with some goats, one of whom seemed to be a big fan of getting scritched by
cell23. For all the rolling my eyes I did about them in college (long story involving the theoretical eating of a bedspread - trust me, you don't care) I seem to have grown passing fond of goats over the years. Or at least they seem to be the one farm animal that doesn't fill me with utter panic. (Seriously, cows and horses freak me out and I've had... bad experiences with sheep.) Plus I find those horizontally slanted hypnotoad eyes of theirs fascinatingly creepy.
But I digress, we finally got in to have breakfast and oh my it was worth the wait. I had some French toast to die for and all drizzled in syrup produced in-house? And topped with ice cream? hell yeah. Plus overall it was lovely just being out with the Manbeast - it had gotten to the point where I couldn't quite remember when the last time we had done something date-like was, and breakfast was a lovely thing to do on a nice, if still wintry Saturday.
After gorging had been achieved I got dropped off at Packards for
claxman's Dune game, where our characters broke into the Holy See of the Orange Catholic Church. Because, why not right? (No there was a reason, but not getting into the plot of the game just now.) Unexpected treat was seeing
extrajoker as she passed through, speaking of people I don't see nearly enough of anymore.
After that, home to the usual weekend snuggles with cathings and husband, and working on projects. My website is so close to being in a state where I could at least open part of it, but I really want to get the beadwork section done before I do, and I've barely started that - I spent the bits of the weekend I worked on it shoring up the homepage and fixing the "picture worth a thousand words" page so that it doesn't break on ipads/tablets (it boggles me that I have to debug on those now). But it is getting there, and at last, it's going in a direction I'm happy with.
Balls. at some point I'm going to have to tweak my LJ style to match. It mostly does now, but what's on my LJ is like, three design ideas ago.
Getting ahead of myself though. This morning had to get up early for church... and didn't, due to purring cat being comfortable and sleeping like shit last night - there were honest to goodness nightmares happening, which... yeah, it's been a while. I vaguely remember
cell23 waking me up from one about being chased by feral dogs and fire, good times - it was like my brain slapped together the two freakier bits of The Hunger Games and made it into a present for me. Yay. That said, I managed to get to bell rehearsal mostly on-timeish. We did super well, plus it was the Palm Sunday services, which I enjoy because I used to like playing with the palm fronds afterward. Now I bring them home and drive the cats absolutely bugshit with them. It seems that the only thing that unites Ash and Lily is a common enemy and boy was the palm frond it.

Also makes for hilarious pictures.
After church and bumming around the house a bit,
cell23 and I swung by The Hangar to pick up a different sort of Church, ha ha, then drove down to visit
htl_1126, her manthing and ze wee behbeh Seamus CJ, whereupon there was chicken consumption, catch up, kvetching and there was probably an embarrassing level of squee from me. There may also have been Andee's famous Baby Dance. Yes, I have a baby dance I do with every baby I'm allowed to pick up. It's pretty ridiculous, and I haven't had a chance to do it since Lil'Beast was still being toted around in one of those things with handles you pop out of a car seat, so it was nice to dust that off again. It was also great to see
htl_1126, who pretty much greeted me with "Hi! Here! Tire him out!" *hands over kid* Not that I was all that worried, but she does seem to be dodging the whole momzombie mindset, though to be fair, reading the booj and living in the valley has given me a pret-ty warped view on modern mommies and I forget that most people I know with kids are actually grounded and some measure of sane/realistic.
Oh also? More pictures, these three being my favorites:

The Hatemonger got her exercise today, that's for sure. In fact my battery died halfway though the visit. No complaining considering the pictures I DID get were pretty awesome. But to be fair, picking between photographing and holding a cute kid, I'd rather be holding him. But a lovely visit was had for all... even if we did end up making
cell23 late for his Star Wars game... ooops.
For those of you that have known me more than four years wondering the obvious questions... I'm fine, surprisingly so, in fact. I think I'm finally over the debilitating baby waaaaahngst of 2007-2010. Nor did exposure to a newborn reawaken the raging babylusts, but that possibly because my uterus is having another sort of explosion as of this morning - as I said to
cell23 earlier, "you don't want none of this jelly. It's all strawberry up in this bitch." (Ew, in hindsight.) But yeah, I was kind of worried about how I'd deal with the visit today (as was
cell23) so this is a pleasant surprise.
Those were the active bits of my weekend. Both yesterday and today had blocks of time where I had nothing to do with my hands, so beadwork got done. I am nine beads away from starting Little Guy #4 - the first of the dancer sprites. again, it's amazing how glad you get about finally being able to put in their tiny pixellized ushenkas, but it is stupid exciting; another marker of progress, slow but steady. Also it's funny how this project is gaining itself a reputation - I was working on it in the bell loft between the end of our rehearsal and the beginning of services this morning and I had people actually coming up to ask me how it was going... and then being all horrified when they'd be all "so you're almost done?" and I'd be all "Nope. Halfway." And
renegadethumper's sister asked how it was going when I called down to the bead store to finally put in my order for bulk beads (I've got a vial and very small change of the "black" beads left). "You're going to bring it down to the store and show it to us when it's done, right?" Ha. Seriously, when this thing thing gets done I'm going to run it up a small flagpole and carry it like a standard. Sheesh. Which reminds me, I have an epic rant stored up about Etsy and the Things You Find when you search for "delicas." Dyyyyeaaaaaaaagh. I've got another one about MY GOD MY HOUSE AAAAGH. But that's for later, this entry's too long already, and I've got a shower to take.
Brat out.
