By Wild Rumpus I mean let us commence the season of laughing at pale folk and their poor sunburnt lobster patches. Mean of me, I know, but it really never gets old. Though to be quite fair, the tops of my shoulders aren't burnt exactly, but there's definitely a sense of overexposure.
But yeah! Lake Wyola, for being in the absolute middle of bugfuck nowhere? Is a really nice little beach/park. The water is warm (once you plunge in anyway) and calm and the lake itself is just gorgeous. The kids had a fantastic time playing in the water with us,
aersi and
verbena76 (who took a few levels in kid tolerence for the trip to the point where he was playing with a delighted Lil'Beast and I sidled up to
aersi and was all like "who is that and what did you do with
verbena76?) I got a fair amount of enjoyment people watching (the gaggle of adorable black teenage boys teasing each other to dive into the at-first brisk water were funny as hell - made me miss my nephews). We all had such a good time that the kids begged to come again when we all were packing up to leave ("And lets bring
aersi and
verbena76 too!"). Well. Now that we know where it is, yeah. I miss going to the beach, and it's good to know there's one reasonably close by to tide us over in between vineyard trips.
We have GOT to get these kids swimming lessons though. They love being in and around water so much, plus its just one of those life skills, you know?
I didn't get any pictures, which kinda sucked because there were several great shots I could have taken. I'm suddenly glad I'm still at the Computer Store for a little bit - thinking I may pick up either an Otterbox or a Lifeproof case just so I'm not constantly worrying about my phone on the Vineyard, and can maybe take some pictures of the kids closer to the water.
