anagramofbrat: (i want it now)
It is always a hard thing for me to accept that there aren't enough hours in a day, and that even if there were, I would not get everything that needs doing done today or even tomorrow.

The trick I haven't mastered yet is to keep plugging away at everything in spite of this.

I hate gray rainy days, but I hate them more when they're merely gray days threatening rain... It was all close and hot when I woke up and it felt all pressure-y all day, like the air was trying to suffocate me. It's actually better now that the rain is coming down.

Anyway, Concentration shot all day. Trying to salvage some of it this evening, watching Deadwood, and listening to the rain. Keeping an eye on the sweetheart's flight back in a background tab. Like I said to him earlier, I don't trust planes with people I love on em to behave themselves on their own.

Tomorrow, I'm meeting Amanda, Alé and Alé's friend in the city, and then we're going to the Museum of Natural History for the day. ([livejournal.com profile] ggirl, btw, rocks for hooking us up with passes.) I am fully expecting to be thoroughly exhausted and footsore by the time we're done. Expecting to see that entire building in one day is foolhardy at best and suicidal by walking at worst, but WE WILL VALIENTLY MAKE THE EFFORT lol. After that, heading to PA with them for the weekend.

Dad's cat has discovered yarn. Unfortunately, the yarn in question is in my hair. I now have to put my hair up when I'm working because I run the risk of the nape of my neck getting gouged if I turn my head too quick. The trials of being a human cat toy. Can't really fault the cat, earlier I took a half an hour to finish up The Pillow Book of Lady Wisteria, and immediately there was a distinctive floof of heavy bruiser cat curling up for a nap in the small of my back and then the needlepricks of LOVE. *sigh* Truth of the universe, masochists make the best cat lovers.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Kick these little saurian bastards into hatching, will ya?

I'm slowly getting used to being blindsided by realizations, memories, other people saying things that come off in ways that are not intended. I'm also learning to absorb the shocks, shake my head vigorously, and attempt to continue with what I was doing before whatever it was hit me.

I'm learning that it's okay that this shit hurts like a roman candle liberally applied to the anus. It's one thing to be hurt in the butt. Quite another to be butthurt. Butthurt must be avoided at all possible costs.

It doesn't matter how much of an uncoordinated klutz you are. Given enough practice you will learn to roll with the punches. And the next ones always hurt a little bit less than the last ones.

Once upon a time I said to someone that I was soft, cuddly steel. I think these days I'm aspiring to make that more into a reality rather than a joke.

This post brought to you by stress and four mugs of coffee.
