I've decided that getting caught in the rain, when the rain is a torrential downpour capable of soaking through two layers of clothing, and in
cell23's case a wool coat, in less time than can be considered reasonable, is highly overrated. I've walked across town before, but doing it when God is gleefully peeing on New York and qute possibly the entire eastern seaboard? yeah no. At least the walk was a memorable one though, involving a rather adorable redheaded pixie that joined us for the ride. Who, alas, also got soaked through. We made a very wet bedraggled trio at the Port Authority McAnns when we finally managed to get inside somewhere.
Other than that and a minor battle with my own insecurities partway through the evening, it was a good day. I even got a couple of hours to curl up in a cafe and chillax with the internets and a book I picked up for that purpose (people who like Kushiel's Dart? Carey new book, Santa Olivia, is good. I'm about a quarter or so though it and already in love with it.)
Dad's Cat is so happy right now. Not only did I come back I brought him a hooman who will play tirelessly with him, LOL.
Apparently Direct TV called up Dad and offered him a $6 introductory movie package so now he has Encore, Showtime, Max and HBO. He is apparently also staying up until 4am most nights watching movies now. I guess he never got a chance to actually do movies until now, so I'm kinda charmed by this. It's not like he has to get up and go to work or nothing.
This morning, quite possibly as side effect to said getting caught in torrential downpour I woke up hurting from eyeballs to ankles, including a sore throat. Ugh. No rest for the wicked, gotta ppost this then run around the corner to get eggs so I can whip up breakfast this morning... after that, I have no idea what the hell we're doing. It's nice out, so maybe park, Slope and/or heights? Problem is my entire system is screaming "ugh, more walking??" lol.
Breakfast ain't gonna cook itself. Off I goes.
