Oh yeah, I promised an AMNH writeup and piccies....
Well here are the piccies, with captions, that tells most of the story right there:
(as an aside, I downloaded the picasa software for PC so I could upload these? Wow. I have a cubic buttton of pictures. I think some housecleaning is in order.)
Other than that, we had a fantastic time, spent six hours inside walking our legs off (I was ready to amputate myself below the knees when we were done). If you can head over and catch the IMAX show about the wild coast off of South Africa and the wildlife feeding off the sardines there, go, it's amazing. Also go see the froggies. I love frogs, so I'm biased to think they're the cutest things hopping.
One anecdote that deserves mention:
SCENE: the elevator in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. It is crowded. Me with my four person party, three random adults and a frazzled mother with two young kids. The older boy has been whining since before he got in.
KID: Why are we in this elevator again? we keep going up and down and up and down and it isn't any fun! I hate this! I rather we went to the Zoo instead!
ALEJANDRA: I'd rather be here at the museum than get spit in the face by a llama at the zoo.
KID: O_O
AMANDA: -_-;;
MOTHER: ...
REST OF ELEVATOR: *SNRRRK*
ELEVATOR: DING!
My family, ladies and gentlemen. :)
ETA: and again, huge props to
ggirl for making the day possible!!
