Come September 1, I will indeed be officially back in the Valley. If you're on the f-list, new address will be posted in my First Post shortly. Commence celebrating - I have. :)
Seriously, starting at about 10:30 am, today, or rather at this point, yesterday, was one of those days where all the lights turned green just as you approached them. Which is good because thinking about it, if things didn't fall into place as perfectly as they did, the fact that I went from Sunderland to Northampton to Hadley to Amherst back to Northampton back to Hadley to South Hadley and finally back to Sunderland would have been incredibly irritating. Pretty much I left the house around 11 am and didn't stop running for 12 hours straight. Eeek.
Anyway, some highlights:
3 PVTA bus trips, 3 of my favorite drivers on the 43: Phil, Cheryl and Art. It was especially good to see Phil this morning and catch up, especially since in among the usual trip-long magician's scarf of conversation he will pull from his mouth when you get on and are willing to chat with him, he had some good insight on how to deal with residual Amoeba baggage in the most positive way possible. Was also good to catch up with Cheryl, and Art simply wins for today for making it possible for me to get the apartment stuff signed sealed and delivered in the 7 or so minutes he was laying up at Amherst College... though it did take a little longer than I thought it would, he had to pull off when he was scheduled and I ended up running the three blocks after the bus after I was done. I caught it though! This would explain the shin splints, to those people who follow my twitter/facebook, btw. One should really warm up before running a 500 meter dash, but it's nice to know I can still sprint like fuck all if I need to. Course, I'm paying for it now, I feel like I was kicked in the left shin really hard with a steel toe boot. OW.
I got to see Angelgrrl and Deb today and catch up, that was made of fantastic. I made two staff members at UmassFive crack the hell up laughing today (thinking vaguely if indeed my three days in, two days out schedule works out I may look into picking up some part timer work there), I have wheels for the next few days (I have meself a Nissan Sentra this time. Mami likes. Especially the line in jack for the stereo, no messing with dodgy iTrip this time around woot!) And since I had an evening to kill, I drove down to South Hadley and treated
captainlove to dinner, since he's been having a miserable week and I really really wanted Parthenon tonight. (seriously, Parthenon is fantastic. If you're brave enough to venture to South Hadley, it is, in my opinion, worth the trip.) And then upon returning to the Land of Sunder and after running into M and
aersi, there was hanging out and playing Rock Band with The Other Andys®, plus
avalon616 and
lockepick and
deliriumdeva and washing down a good day with some really really good bourbon and beer. Dundee Honey Brown, btw, is tasty stuff, and this is from the woman who can't stand beer.
Pretty much my one complaint about today was that a) my left leg is still sore from the dash earlier, and b) after a delicious breezy morning, the Valley turned back into a sauna. I am displeased, as it is once again too damn hot to sleep, even with five shots of bourbon and the beer still kinda wandering around my bloodstream. (I suppose this counts as a drunk post, then?) I'm a little sad that the weather and pollen count have robbed me of my bedtime company, but it's probably for the best considering the epic snoring happening in the living room.
This weekend I'm the Roaming Rainbow Haired Negro, as
cell23's got the kids over. Spending tomorrow night out in eastern MA first running
chirping_monkey back home, then some hang out and catch up time with
inle_rah, whom I haven't seen in Too Damn Long™. Crashing out there, then probably going to take my time heading back on Saturday - vaguely debating the idea of swinging by Framingham to see my aunt and uncle, since I'm almost never out that way and it seems a little gauche to not say hi if I'm going to be in the neighborhood. Have car and iPod, will indeed travel. Saturday night I think I'm tentatively crashing at
aersi and
verbena76's, then Sunday hanging with
cell23 and the kids. I will probably head into the office on Monday since I have the car, Tuesday I see Dr. Cave in Woooooostah, and again, since I have the car and it's getting on to be My Favorite Time of Year Evar I'll probably check out The Halloween Outlet while I'm there. Debating what to do after that... In all likelihood I'm probably going to head back down to New York for a few days, but depending on when we can get into the new place, I'll be back either on the 31st or the 1st and start moving my crap out of storage.
Holy crap, it's actually happening. I'm coming the hell home.
Okay, enough filling the nets with my half drunken prattle. If I'm going to stay awake, I'd best do something productive. Y HELO THAR WORK.
