Moments of serenity/happiness/accomplishment in the craziness

• helping Vicki make her amtrak reservation and shooting the shit this morning in the hospital lounge
  
  
• Giving Dad a hard time about giving everyone else in the family a hard time
  
  
• Trying not to hate Stan too hard for declaring that I was genetically predisposed to liking plantain chips and proving him right by finishing the bag without deciding for sure whether I actually liked them.
  
  
• getting to drive Stanley's tricked out Chevy for a hot second. In manhattan. TAXI EVADE SUCCESSFUL.
  
  
• finding a place in brooklyn that does custom ironwork and repair, specializing in brownstones.
  
  
• cleaning out the crapware on Ruthy's laptop. Thing runs a LOT happier than it did.
  
  
• Successfully infecting Stan with the Girl Talk love. Listened to Feed the Animals down the FDR drive from the hospital to Ruthy's, nearly made it through the whole album. So much fun watching people listen to it for the first time, man.

Almost midnight and miles to go before I sleep, especially since between Dad being demanding and other fun distractions it's damn near impossible for me to get much constructive done at Mt. Sinai, and not for lack of trying. I honestly don't know where the time went today. D:

I'd just like to close with the note that Ruthy is in the next room avidly watching the Young and the Restless. What. People still watch soaps? really?

So glad to hear your Dad is on the mend. Ruth has had a setback at rehab...MRSA infection, but continues to improve in hand/arm movements, and wiggled her toes of the affected foot for the first time several days ago. Is he going back to rehab when the lungs are clear?

thats the plan, though he's cranky and and wants to go home after a month of hospital and rehab! I figure if he's complaining, he's feeling better.

Crabby is a good thing. I worked in a nursing home for a time when I had just graduated from college, and the quiet ones are the ones who've given up and are ready to die.
