Do you circumcise* your hardcover books? Permanently or just while reading them?

Me: Yes, but only while reading them. At least, unless I've lost the "foreskin," which happens quite a lot.

I keep them on at all times. I might take off the extra obi strip from a Japanese book while I'm reading it, to prevent it from getting mangled by the contents of my bag, but put it back on when I shelve the book.

I tend to have a lot of stuff in whatever bag I'm carrying, so if I have a hardcover book I'll remove the dust jacket so it won't get ruined. Once it goes back on the shelf I'll put the cover back on. :)

It depends on the book. Harry Potter: no. Jacqueline Carey: sometimes. Sometimes I'm really bad and use the dust jacket as a bookmark, which stretches it out.
