It's July 1st. I was actually surprised when I realized that this morning - somehow June having only 30 days messes me up. I always expect it to have 31.
Firsts of months are always kind of special for me. On one hand it doesn't make really much sense, as calendars are pretty arbitrary things and really today could just be another muggy Wednesday with no real significance. Or it could be not even a Wednesday. It's kind of an accident that this moment in time is designated what it is, the first day of the seventh month named after some Roman who died before Year 1 in the current common calendar. On the other hand, it is what it is. And firsts of months are when I really kinda sit back, take stock (leave your livestock alone!), and try to figure out what I want to do for the next 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. As I have been known to say, it's a brand new month, with no mistakes in it yet. Of course, i'm sure that will change soon enough.
I've got a crapton to do today, this week, this month. If I think about it too hard, I freak out and shut down. The trick is not to think, but to keep moving, keep doing, and eventually the big things will settle down. I guess the mantra for this month is the voice of Gold Leader: "Stay on target... stay on target..."
