anagramofbrat: (and the goddamn batman)
So tired. And such a busy day at work, so this is going to be a bunch of random quick paragraphs, cause I'm honestly too burnt even for a bullet list. Yes, typing <li> is more effort than I want to expend, bite me. You'll be lucky if I only have five or six typos as opposed to completely foregoing the spacebar entirely, which I'm tempted to do.

Oh yeah, coffee I haven't drunk yet. That'll help.

Drove back up from NY without incident, other than nearly reenacting the scalping of Jayne Mansfield on the BQE. Note to self, some flatbeds don't have a mansfield bar (yes, that's what they're called. And yes, that's why). Also it's really scary having to suddenly brake behind one of those because the beds are at exactly eye level. Eeeeeep.

Never get the shower curtain hooks from Target. The round ones in the cheap bin are there for a reason, unless you like hurting your hands and yelling FML! FML! over and over while trying to snap them closed.

Finding out that your deadbolts are keyed wrong five minutes after the main office closes and when you're standing in the drvieway with two cars and a truck full of your crap is not fun. However, it gives you a chance to meet the neighbors, crank up the sound system in one of the cars, have ridiculous dance parties in said driveway and be treated to a random military jet doing air stunts. Also when the maintenance man does show up to swear at your locks, he just might hand you his adorable eight month old daughter so you can get your baby squee ya-yas out. OMG the cute, it killed.

Speaking of that, having two friends you haven't seen in months randomly call you and say something to the effect of "We're bored, do you need help moving?" WIN. Getting to embarrass at least one of them by referring to them as "Hot Movie Theater Muscle" for the remainder of the day is bonus. I seriously have to do something VERY nice for Brian and Geoff in return. And hey, they're decently close by as well and it never hurts to have one more place to go play rock band... though Brian's been known to just schlep the entire game rig around with him places, lol.

Major disadvantage to living in a neighborhood full of geeks - all surrounding wireless networks are secure. :( And comcast ain't showing up before Saturday morning. Looks like I'll be plopping on various beds and couches around the area to get my homework done/fix until then.

Due to said friends, I am more moved in than I thought I'd be by now, as I now have almost all of my stuff out of storage. There are a few crates and several boxes of books left. Pleased to report that none of the spiders that moved into the unit with my stuff seem to have come back with it. Oh and that hexagon table. Speaking of which, ugh, there is a desperate need for bookshelves. And a computer desk/chair. And kitchen shit, cause I basically have none and Cara only has a bit. Anyway, spent the evening unpacking everything that isn't books or compy equipment, and putting my bed together. Gods it's nice to have my bed back... even if I didn't end up sleeping in it last night, lol.

Speaking of which, yeah, you know your bf lives pretty damn close by when you can pick up the presence of his house wireless network from your apartment. At like 5% signal strength, but still.

All of this and I still managed to forget things in NY, like the entire contents of my underwear drawer, lol. yeah, I have like three pairs with me right now, and I really have to wonder what would happen if I asked Dad to box up the rest and mail it to me. Yeah not happening, lulzy as it might be.

Still need to go online everyfrickinwhere and change my address. Gyyyeargh. *hides*

I feel a bit like that scene in Kill Bill where The Bride is lying in the "Party" Wagon (TV censorship for the lulz) willing her big toe to wiggle. After she manages that, she smiles and says "Okay. Hard part's done... Lets get these other piggies wiggling!" Story of my life, especially right now. I got moved, I have an apartment and I'm back here. Now the real work... gotta find and buy the car, get insured, etc etc and see if I can do this there responsible adult thing more or less all by me onesies. I don't like flying without a safety net, but it would be nice to prove to myself and a few people I know that doubt it that I can do this.

So. Off to the next part of the trip... need my equivelant of the Hanzo katana/Japanese steel. I think I just named the car when I get it, lol. Considering I'm looking for a Honda, Nissan or Toyota, this is all kinds of amusing.

Worktime... now and forever, if I ever have a hope of paying for all of this shit, lol. Adulthood is expensive.

BEEEEEP

I'm sorry, the correct answer is "Thank you, yes I am!" and not a list of baloney reasons you think you're not a silky hat of cocoa sexy right now when you SO are ;-P

Not as expensive as trying to pretend you're not one, eh?
