Hmm... really there's nothing quite as sad as referencing an in-joke and then realizing that everyone that would get it is gone. Oh well.
Went to dinner at Ruthy's with Dad and Imm, which was delicious and fun and actually did get me to feel better, since the conversation over the meal was fun. Dad told us a story about when he was getting shipped to Korea in the service, and how he played poker all night and won himself $200 dollars, which is impressive since the upper limit on bets was a nickel. *shakes head* it occurs to me that while I know most of Mom's stories I barely know any of Dad's. Course when I was growing up, he wasn't exactly the talkative type - the whole being the life of the party thing is a fairly recent phenomenon. There was also a hilarious half hour or so where we all ended up arguing over the merits of marriage and how to make it work, with Dad taking the traditional chauvenistic point (I think mostly to rile the rest of us up, because by the definition he gave of a "good wife" neither his own nor any of his daughters qualify), Ruthy being entirely against the whole idea, and me the Libra trying to take the balanced and fair view of it in the middle, big surprise there. And it being dinner at Ruthy's we were of course treated after dinner to an MJ moment or three, since she managed to procure the Dangerous concert in Bucharest on DVD. So my spirits were a bit better when we got back.
Gonna be one of those days... I still feel like crap in the headmeats, but will get things done today if it kills me. So there. The Power of South Park compels me.
Speaking of TV I did indeed end up getting the firsk disk of Carnivale out... wow. Granted, I was hooked right at the beginning when Samson appears because I was all like HOLY SHIT IT'S THE DREAM MAN FROM TWIN PEAKS THAT CAN TALK BACKWARDS BY EAR OMG OMG LOOK AT THE GLORIOUS LITTLE BASTARD. I'm going to hold off getting the rest until post-move, as I feel like the series will deserve all of my attention when I watch it for real.
right. *cracks knuckles* it's that time then.
