Yesterday overall was one of those proverbial good days that Ice Cube would have, I think: nothing too too special about it, and what was special about it was greatly appreciated. Highlights included:

  • actually making it to the office for the second workday in a row. There are things I greatly miss about the trip now that I'm not making it very much anymore: the 12 and 3pm carillon concerts, being able to shoot the shit with the guys in person, being able to go out to lunch with [livejournal.com profile] htl_1126 on occasion, but mostly? it's the commute down. Yes, I know, that makes me some kind of crazy person to miss a 45 minute drive each way, but I do. Apparently being in the car for just long enough to get through an entire CD of something loud and thumpy sailing down the highway has some serious antidepressant effects on my brain. Well, I did make a resolution to get into the office more often, so I'm just going to have to keep that in mind.

  • Coming home to kitty love. I forgot how nice it is to have a small creature happy to see you. And then wanting its dinner.

  • [livejournal.com profile] cell23 making chicken piccata. I've said it before, I'll say it again, men making tasties in my kitchen == sexxay.

  • while eating said chicken piccata, watching Death to Smoochy with the Manbeast (while fending off the cat - we've gotten a bad cat bottle for this purpose, lol). Wow. Um. That movie is sick. And there's something about Robin Williams playing psychotic a little bit too well that kinda makes me want to curl up and hide under a bed. Also Danny DeVito is a twisted twisted man. Everything he's directed that I've seen was so deliciously bent.

  • having movie interrupted by an [livejournal.com profile] aersi and an [livejournal.com profile] aradiadiane who came to visit, offer advice on vets and kitty training, and play with teh kitty. Lily seem sociable up to a point, after a while she'll be all UGH SCREW YOU GUYS and huff off until someone dangles her mousie in her line of sight again.

  • Wandering briefly over to Ladies night to watch [livejournal.com profile] aersi play LEGO Harry Potter. It's about as cute and silly as you'd expect.

  • Between the end of Death to Smoochy and Ladies night I pulled out the yarn, so I'm back to waking up looking a cross between the Bride of Frankenstein with Little Orphan Annie. The heroic task of brushing it will be something for later today.

Speaking of which, I haven't even written down my to-do list for today and by extension the week and I'm already completely daunted by it. But there is an adorable kitty passed out asleep on the foot of my bed so it can't be all bad, right?

I concur about commuting, I definitely miss that musical mental buffer zone between home and work. I commute on a trampette right now, which is an acceptable substitute.

But having a cat climb on you is one of the best parts of watching movies! Though cats do have the unfortunate quality of being nontransparent.

Also, you need to introduce her to the wonderful world of laser pointers. Our cats still go nuts trying to chase down that red spot.

the climbing on me isn't the problem. Its her tendency to stick her entire head in whatever we're eating.

All food is cat food! All non-food is also cat food.
