Sorry about all the bead blather lately, I've been pretty much literally thinking in pixels for the past couple weeks.

So who is the Witch, besides my character's Geist in [livejournal.com profile] verbena76's game? Well...

The Witch is Fisher Price® My First Bead Project™, done on a cheap ass craft loom I picked up at a yard sale back in 2001 sometime and then didn't use for a year. She's really a trifecta of firsts: she was the first pattern I generated from a gif, the first time I ever wove anything on a loom and the first time I'd ever used 11/0 delica beads (and I'm so hooked). She has since been rolled up in my woefully disorganized beading drawer waiting for a purpose and occasionally hauled out as a handy measuring guide for things, which is sad because she's really quite pretty, even if I am rather ashamed of her at present. Because you see, she is very much my first real bead project and it shows. There are bits where I missed the warp entirely, the colors aren't very well chosen (the silver is completely indistinguishable from the gray - yes, there are supposed to be FIVE colors in there, not four), and if you look at the edges I very plainly had no idea how to finish it off neatly. Here, let me show you:

Yeah. Ouch. It's still PRETTY no mistake, but it isn't anywhere near my current standards. Still I hate to see her just wasting away in a drawer, so I've been considering ways of saving her so she can get out of the drawer and onto someone's wall where she belongs. The only way that looks even remotely feasable at this point is to rip her up and do her over again. On the good loom, with a different shade of dark gray, possibly with the top inch or so of her hat cut off. It'll give me something to do until I have some scratch for more black beads anyway. The problem with this plan is I've since lost the original gif I made this from (it's been almost ten years) and the only remnant of the pattern I've got is a large color printout of the pixels laid out on a grid, which I can technically recreate, pixel by pixel, so I can throw it into my pattern generator. It's just going to be a royal pain in the ass to do so.

She may just be worth it though.

Just for poops and ha has, here are the current two wristbands on the loom:

Going to have to pin down someone with meatier wrists than I so I can figure out where to put snaps on them. I'm not a good person to test that on, as my wrists and hands can best be described as "dinky" and I'd like a medium to large wrist to try these on.

Making progress on setting up an Etsy shop; getting stuck on writing out policies and stuff. Nothing listed - haven't taken the plunge quite yet. If you're on Etsy as well, add me to your circles pretty please? (same username as here.)

My left wrist has been broken so many times (and the little wrist point broken OFF) that it looks like a freaking dough hook hanging off my arm. EW!

I added you to my Circle...maybe someday I'll reopen shop on Etsy again. Maybe.

You can try it on mine tomorrow if you want- Mish usually uses mine because she has dinky wrists too. :D

Puttering with notions of an Etsy shop, too. D'you need a tax ID and all that nonsense? I can't seem to find ANY information on dealing with sales taxes.
