Jun. 24th, 2010 11:38 amI'm getting to the end of the parts of Samurai Jack that I've seen before, or barely remember because I've only seem them once. (I'm on episode XXXII.) I'm actually kind of excited about there being a whole season and a half I missed. Especially since later on I see the Scotsman makes a 2 episode return, and dear fates I love the Scotsman.
Some notable fun bits:
XXV - Jack and the Spartans - Wow I didn't know Genndy Tartakovsky made 300 long before they made the actual 300! No seriously, they did. Except instead of stereotypical Persians, the 300 Spartans fought off a horde of minataur-like robots, and yet even despite this it was a fuck of a lot better than 300 was. It also looks rather startlingly similar to the movie, which is explainable because Tartakovsky is a big Frank Miller fan and has included references to some of his comics in the show before. But yeah, this was a good one, and even better there was no one yelling "THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH."
XXVIII: Jack and the Rave - Oh. Oh god, how could I have ever forgotten about this episode? I mean, just the initial frame of Jack dressed up as a raver kid complete with monkey backpack and stovepipe hat and pascifier makes the episode worth watching by itself.
XXX: Jack and the Zombies - Okay granted the battle between Aku and Jack at the end of this was amazing and genuinely terrifying, but what still makes this episode for me is Aku's hilarious poutfest/nervous breakdown at the beginning culminating in "Samurai, Samurai. Why. Won't. You. DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!!!!??????????" One of those moments where you could just tell Mako was having far too much fun voicing this character... *sigh* RIP, man, you are missed.
I actually have a huge chunk of work on my plate for today. Normally this would stress me out, but today I feel up to the challenge. Here's hoping I can continue to Get Shit Done today.
