Final dragcave treat tally 73/94. I'm good with that. Now it's all about letting the eggs I have hatch up and then pretty much done til christmas.

Rock Band 3 on all instruments is mind blowingly fun. And yes, we had enough people tonight to have all four instruments and 3 microphones going at once. I totally like wants me own, precious, mostly cause there's shit I want to play/download that I know will get my ass clowned if other people are in the vicinity. :) Maybe by the time RB4 happens I'll have enough money loosened up for such things.

No trick or treaters, but despite this I've managed to consume enough kit kat and snickers fun size bars to give me a raging headache and a need to stay awake FOREVER. Oh wait... that might also have to do with the half a bottle of Pepsi I motored through today.

Wellp, it's officially November, which means my birthday is officially over (lol) and candy corn is disgusting again as of about an hour ago. I'm not doing NaNo this year (not like I ever do NaNo for more than a week anyway) - instead, going to work on some other stuff this month. I still have a ton of web crap on my plate that I need to finish, both personal and not, need to do some Serious Work Shit, have one new web project I want to get underway (but still need to clear the rest of it before I do in earnest) and need to address various and sundry money stuff so I can get some stuff paid down and get Hanzo-san back on the road. I miss driving my baby.

Also I need to jack out some this month, as I've noticed I'm fading back into my usual patterns of avoiding the minatours roaring in my head (and they've been LOUD the past little while, hoo boy) by fading into the Internet as much as possible. I'll still be on LJ, but in the interest of noise reduction I'm not going to be on twitter or FB much, so if I miss something good, holler. I think this month I'm going to spend dealing with the real world - getting my money and brain unscrambled, and actually working on some things instead of staring at them and panicking about how they're never going to get done. Hopefully I'll have made enough progress so that when Cataclysm actually drops I'll be able to a) afford it (oh.... crap, do I also have to buy lich king too? crud.) b) be able to have a free enough plate both time and headnoise-wise to play it with impunity.

So yeah, if I get quieter in the next 30 days, chances are I'm okay and hopefully busy as hell instead of staring at the ceiling babbling the Russian lyrics to Tetris or something. Yes, that song has words and I know them. The first couple of verses anyway.

I guess here's to a productive and triumphant November?

Odd things cross my brain pre-caffienation:

  • I dreamed that all my and [livejournal.com profile] cell23's clothing had vanished out of our closets. Just a bar full of haphazard hangars. What the fuck.

  • I woke up with "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah" firmly stuck in my head. [barrowman] 30ROCK! [/barrowman]

  • While I blearily shuffled and groaned my way to the coffeepot, a voice in my brain decided it needed to point out that almost the entire Muppet franchise, with the possible exception of "Sesame Street," fails the Bechdel Test. It most definitely fails if you eliminate the human guest stars. I mean, really, have you ever seen Piggy and Janice talk to each other about anything?

All of the above made me weirdly sad for various reasons. And then I had coffee.

In other news, Rock Band 3, oh holy crap, I'm going to fall over and die from awesome. The game itself is tighter and sharper, and demands more out of you. And keyboards. Gnnnrrrarrgh keyboards. With the exception of "Need You Tonight" (trust me, everyone will be able to play this one on expert pro keys) that shit is not easy. I found myself having the usual issue I do with guitar hero and rock band where I can't really anticipate what I'm doing fast enough to actually hit things and when you throw black note keys into the mix? aaaaaaaaaaaagh. Also I finally encountered the "Rock Band vs Actual Instrument" cognitive dissonance where the music is going in a completely different direction than my hand is. Okay, I finally get what the guitar/bass players have been fussing about all these years. Still. Nice that they added an instrument that I actually gravitate towards other than vocals. I'm just a little sad that I won't have all that much opportunity to practice. On the other hand, it's making me want to haul out the synth and start playing again. Music is good.

ETA: aha, I just realized what probably was fucking me up so badly on pro-keys, or at least what would have helped a ton - a key signature of some sort. It's a moot point on regular play because you only have five keys to worry about; when you have two octaves worth of chromatic scale to deal with? oh fuck no. When you have regular sheet music you have some warning before each section what keys you're going to need in general, and I think most piano/keyboard players default to C major (no black keys) if not told otherwise, so spontaneous black key wandering down is going to mess you the fuck up. Something for Harmonix to think about for #4?

Raining and warm, looking forward to another day of SVU and being utterly crushed/demoralized by my to-do list. Le Sigh. One paw in front of the other, right? Oh! wait there should be Sons of Anarchy, yes? All right, today doesn't seem that bleak. :) And there's bells later.

  • Now that I've been liberated from PVTA hell for a few months, I do find that I do miss taking the bus from time to time. However I don't miss leaving shit on said bus, which I also did from time to time, and did yesterday. D'oh! Gotta call Transit lost and found tomorrow (today?)

  • Spent last night and this morning attending the occasional gathering of the East Mass Ts and the West Mass Ts at [livejournal.com profile] head58's. REPRESENT. Yes, I think I'm the only one who was present at that gathering who can say that with any degree of authenticity, and I'm the first one to admit, I don't have much as it is.

  • Played lots of rock band with folks that around which I didn't have to feel slightly ashamed about sticking to medium or occasionally hard (with much deadly fail) on bass. Don't get me wrong, I do like playing over at [livejournal.com profile] delirium_deva's but due to lack of time and x-box really about the only thing on rock band I can do on hard/expert is sing, and then only on shit I actually know, lol.

  • Also played Beatles Rock Band. Fun shit, seeing that they are just about exactly in my range. Would love to try it with someone who knows the harmony lines.

  • Watched Cars again this morning. The more times I see it, the more that movie grows on me. It's kinda steadily gaining on Monsters Inc as my favorite Pixar movie. And I do love me some Monsters Inc. Course I haven't gotten a chance to see Up yet and that looks super cute.

  • I agree with [livejournal.com profile] aliwings in that BJs must use enslaved elf labor in their bakery department. I had half a chocolate chip muffin this morning that was all kinds of delicious.

  • Got awakened this morning first by a Lovebug snuggling in between me and [livejournal.com profile] cell23, and then earnestly when he decided he was tired of cuddling and wanted to play Rocketbird on my iPod. In my sleep induced fog I decided it was a good idea to download a Thomas the Tank Engine game pack from the app store... which did keep him busy this morning but probably caused a few more fights with his sister later on in the day that it was probably worth, lol.

  • rain rain rain blah blah blah bleck shmoo. Maybe I'll get the kids to help me build a goddamn ark tomorrow.

  • Boston Market is some seriously yummy shit indeed. Also in case I'm over at anyone's house and you decide you want to feed me, let me clarify something. NO, SPINACH WILL NOT KILL ME, lol. I just probably shouldn't eat an eight quart pot of it without chasing it with a bottle of vodka. But a serving is okay. Really. Now if you do see me boiling up a cauldron of kale or collard greens with intent to eat it all by me onesies in a single sitting you should probably interpret that as a cry for help. Just saying.

  • oh crap bitches it's Pi(e) Day GET IN THE CAR and when come back bring pie. Wankers.

There's more but I really need to hit the shower, then fall down go boom. Long rainy day with super fractious littleuns does not make for the alive, awake, alert, or enthusiastic.

Been working from home all week. Car stuff and anxiety issues acting up are not cute. Kinda wigging out because I do have an appointment with the head-doc today and if I were gonna take the bus I should have left half an hour ago. Here's hoping Hanzo behaves. *sigh* I have not the faintest idea how I'm going to magically pull money out of my ass for it next week, but Hanzo is going in on Monday for oil/lube/strut; I've put it off long enough. :/

I went over to [livejournal.com profile] delerium_deva, et al's to play Rock Band last night. I forget how much I actually like playing it. [livejournal.com profile] renegadethumper's huge ass song library don't hurt none either.

Getting stuff done... slowly, fractiously... but they're happening. I am aware, however, that some things are getting done because I'm stressing/procrastinating from other stuff. I have tonight to myself, I am hoping to get some of that shit addressed. Hopefully. I don't know.

Stress sucks. Money sucks. My intestines suck. The weather after several days of warm and delicious, sucks. Kerfoo. Still, I can't complain _all_ the time. Some good hangouts with people have been had, and this past week I've been kind of spoiled in the time department by the boyfriend, his insistence on repeatedly singing various bits and versions of "Amazing Horse" notwithstanding. I am consistently amazed and amused by how much genuine affection I can stuff into a sentence like "I'm going to strangle you in your sleep." :)

I've quit putting stuff in my coffee again. Y'all know how I can't stand how milk tastes by itself; overcreamed coffee three mornings in a row has pretty much soured me on it for now. There is something refreshingly honest about plain unadorned black coffee, much like plain tea or neat vodka. I'm not sure why I keep waffling between overloading my morning cup of sanity with enough cream and sugar to defeat the most stubborn and stalwart of pancreases, and completely forgoing it altogether, but hey, it's not the first quirk in my personality, it won't be the last.

Still really want Stop and Shop chocolate chip cookies. Depending on my finances tomorrow (oh pay day) maybe I'll indulge and get some.

I've got an introduction. I decided I'm not really going to stress much about winning, really, just going to block off some time to spit fiction out of my brainmeats and see where it goes. Very low key sort of thing, and this allows me wiggle room to chuck the project if something more interesting comes up, like an invite to RAWK OUT WITH MY CAWK OUT. Should be fun I haven't played Rock Band in months.

But yeah. My goal isn't really to win this thing, my goal is to get back into the habit of writing every damn day I can. We'll see how that goes.

Today is looking up considerably. AND THERE'S A BIG YUMMY FULL MOON OMG heehehehehehe
