Livejournal accent meme!

Leave a voice post in your journal answering the following questions:

1. Your name and/or username:
2. Where you're from:
3. The following words: aunt, roof, route, wash, oil, theater, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught, orange, coffee, direction, naturally, aluminum and herbs.
4. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
5. What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
6. What do you call gym shoes?
7. What do you say to address a group of people?
8. What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
9. What do you call your grandparents?
10. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
11. What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
12. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

It may take a couple of tries to get this done, as the VP server's a bit on the busy side, probably due to this making the rounds.

This is cool! Andit made me realize that maybe I do infact have a slight southern accent ...because some of those words sounded way wrong to me ( lol )

*affects a snooty British accent*

Oh, may I bring you a grocery carriage? What about some buttered scones and tea? Or an aeroplane?

(In other words, I agree with you on the weirdness of calling it a carriage. Groceries have never experienced such linguistic elevation before!)

I wonder if this sort of meme could spark wars between regions based on how certain words are pronounced with different accents.

I also stand by my statement that I would pronounce some of these words differently in different contexts, so it's not fair to base somebody's speech patterns on recording them once.

How fun to hear you talk! I only counted four words that I pronounce significantly different than you, way over here on the opposite coast.

I suppose I should figure out how to do a voice post someday.
