I wanted you to know that Ruth (remember, my mother's cousin who lived with her?) suffered a stroke on Friday. Today I'm off to the hospital to help my sister and Ruth decide on the best rehab placement for Ruth. She'll probably move tomorrow. Thursday at the latest. How's you Dad doing in rehab?
Very well. Up, walking, exercising, talking, kidding around, being a pain in the ass. :) It seems to have mostly impacted memory and speech, not his mobility, but that's all improving a lot with each passing day. They're talking about releasing him probably in another week or so.
I will. It seems Ruth's affected just her muscle control, but not her cognitive functioning nor her speech (well, a little articulation issue, due to the fact that she's having trouble moving one side of her mouth.) She's right-handed, and it's affected her right side. Can't move right arm nor leg. And so, off to rehab!
Went over to visit with Ruth in the hospital yesterday, and she's begun moving her fingers on her right hand. Also, her facial muscles are coming back, as in raising both eyebrows and smiling on both sides of her mouth (most times). She's getting evaluated for an intensive therapy program, which we hope she'll qualify for, and will be moved either today or tomorrow, but we have a lot of hope at this point for a good (if not complete) recovery. She is 88, after all!
