All around I'd call yesterday a success. Shit got paid, errands got run, three loads of laundry got did, shopping happened, dinner happened and at the end of the day there was [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I horsing around with an overexcited Lily, which is always good for 45 minutes of straight giggling.

Oh speaking of which, I came home between errandry to find [livejournal.com profile] cell23 had left me this charming note:

Our cat, ladies and gentlemen. Now with warning labels.

Yesterday's errandry involved bidding a fond farewell to some of my Books of Greater Paganery. It's long been time for them to find newer, more interested eyes to peruse them, and the other day I put up a bunch of stuff on PBS, all of which got requested almost immediately. While I still identify as nebulously Pagan religiously, the truth of the matter is these days I seem to be a proud member of the First Church of Not Really Giving A Rat's Ass, lol. Okay that's not true either. I think it's more of an understanding between me and To Whom It May Concern that we mutually keep our distance until needed. I'm okay with this. Regarding the books, though, I'm always glad to pass something of mine on to someone who can use/love it more. And hey, PBS credits are nothing to sneeze at.

In "moar weird shit from my past rising to thwonk me in the skull" news, I report with great amusement that [livejournal.com profile] jaicat relaunched the MSFC on Facebook. Thankfully while at Stop and Shop last night I managed to quell the burning need to buy out either strawberry or red jell-o in commemoration. Regarding the MSFC, don't ask, you just had to have been there back in the days of PINE email and bored college students without social media to entertain them, so what did we do? WE ENTERTAINED OURSELVES.

Today's plan includes inhaling what strange brew of meat and vegetables [livejournal.com profile] cell23 has thrown into the crock pot and tending to items on the list that I did not get to yesterday. Apparently maintaining a consistent level of busy is a good mindset for me, as well as staying on top of where my time goes and not letting things like the Internet suck away chunks of time. Again... we'll see how far I get. :) No pressure.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! ~~ Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

OMG OMG OMG OMG HANDBELLS OMG OMG OMG OMG

*cough* ahem. Yeah so a couple months? back [livejournal.com profile] aradiadiane mentioned she was part of the handbell choir up the road at the Sunderland First Congregational Church. (I might have posted about it at the time, come to think of it, with very much the same level of capslock.) I VERY CALMLY and SEDATELY and not at all like a SMALL OVEREXCITED YAPPY DOG ON SPEED inquired if they needed extra ringers; she said she's pass her director my number.

So the director just called me! First rehearsal's on Wednesday afternoon, first performance is during Sunday services on 10/3.

Excuse me, I have to go zoom around the house much in the fashion that cats do after making large deposits in the litterbox. Thank heavens [livejournal.com profile] cell23's at game, lol. he'd be making fun of me FOREVER for the crazy monkey hysterionics happening.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Oh before I do that? Hattip to [livejournal.com profile] liamstliam for pointing his flist to NPR's 50 Greatest Voices. I've been reading/listening for the past hour and I am FASCINATED.

Okay, off to completely lose my shit now.

gospel brunch

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I went out to Boston to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] aliwings' birthday at the House of Blues Gospel Brunch. (reminds me, I gotta friend her). I actually had a very good time... even better when I looked across the table and saw aliwings was singing along to a few of the hymns too so I didn't feel nearly as self conscious about knowing how to get my spirit on without being coached by the emcee.

Got me thinking about church in general. On an amusing note, why the hell isn't Sunday Brunch served DURING the service more? lol. Man, the prime reason why I used to be kinda miserable when Nuke would drag me to church out in Short Hills was with folk catching the spirit and praising and all, the service ran three hours or more before we were released for lunch, and y'all know how I get when I'm hungry. This was perfect. But yeah on the other hand... I don't know. Sometimes I miss going to church - I love the pageantry, ritual, music and most importantly, the community, whether it's a sedate episcopalian service, a raucous, hat filled, make a joyful noise unto the Lord baptist service, or even the long scripted ancientness of Mass. Really I kinda feel that way about any religious service I've ever been to - Seders, the near legendary antics of ASP and UMPSO back in the day (yes, I knew them back before they were Spirals, yes I'm that old)... I don't know. It's a little sad not really having any sort of religion anymore sometimes. I suppose I could always go somewhere every once in a while to something - Drum and Dance next month maybe or tag along to church with Nuke next time both of us happen to be in New York for the weekend, but I don't know. I enjoy being there, but since I don't really believe anymore and am never really a part of the churches I do attend once in a blue moon, it always feels a little bit like just going through the motions if that makes sense.

On a related, but completely different note, [livejournal.com profile] cell23 and I agree that I need to get at least one Sunday Outfit. Complete with giant ridiculous hat, purse and gloves. Especially the hat. Luckily I know several stores that cater to that sort of thing down on Flatbush Ave, so I may go shopping next time I'm down there, if I remember, lol.

It's gonna be a thinky sort of week. Okay, it's been a thinky sort of month. But yeah. I may be a little quieter than usual for the next little bit. You know, other than memes and such like.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLARISA!!!!!! *spidey dance*

Home today... work has simmered down to a dull roar and I'm still feeling spoon deficient. Plan to spend today doing some cleaning around the apartment, whatever work that needs doing and a bit of NaNo writing, and if I feel up to it, gym tonight. I haven't been in like a week and a half; I feel like such a tubby slug.

Jehovah's Witnesses amuse me. I grew up in Brooklyn, okay, you breathe in fumes from all the printer ink leaking out of the Watchtower warehouses when you cross the Manhattan Bridge, no thank you, I've had enough Awake! for a lifetime. Now if they were the people peddling Chick tracts, we'd talk, I LOVE those things. They're so goddamn ridiculous. Pun sort of intended.

My mood is still baseline bad this morning, though not being stuck at the office, an errand in the fresh and lovely autumn morning, and waking up to being aggressively snuggled are definitely helpful. Here's hoping coffee will take care of the rest of it plus the proto-headache trying to squeeze i's way into my brainmeat by way of my sinuses and that today will end up reasonably productive.

Pretty much forgot until now, despite being reminded last night - blessed Mabon everyone!

For me... The summer is finally officially and no holds barred OVER. Never have I been happier to see the end of a season, and this with the caveat that summer is generally my worst season to begin with... this one can really DIAF. Don't get me wrong, there were good things about it, and it was certainly educational... but overall the suck was brought, and I'm glad it's over.

Here's to making the fall and winter amazing and awesome.

I think the world might be a better place if people stopped wearing clothing and jewelry with "WWJD" plastered on it, and replaced it with "DBAD"

Seriously, that's about the long and short of any concrete religious belief I've ever really ascribed to. (Spiritual belief is a different can of worms.) But yeah. I'm with this guy (and apparently Wil Wheaton) all the way.

Again, appropriate icon is appropriate.

BTW, Wil Wheaton's blog and twitter? highly entertaining.
