anagramofbrat: (Evil Squirrel (SOON))
From the CDC by way of Wikipedia, regarding rabies (emphasis mine):

"Small rodents such as squirrels, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, chipmunks, rats, and mice and lagomorphs like rabbits and hares are almost never found to be infected with rabies and are not known to transmit rabies to humans."

...orly?

(nope, still not telling... yet. Hee hee hee)

did you get bit by a squirrel?

Date: 2011-10-22 02:17 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] anagramofbrat.livejournal.com
Also no. I think me and squirrels have gotten past our mutual animosity from college wherein they would drop the spiky horse chestnuts on my head and I would vow to destroy their entire species.

Indeed. Indeed.

By the time I get to any squirrel carcases around here they're usually mashed flat into asphalt pizza.

Pretty sure there is one down the road. If the racoons haven't eaten it by now.

The squirrels out here are more known for carrying the bubonic plague though.

*gasp!* You came down with your own case of rabies! Who will you be biting first??!

You've gotten the role of "Squirrel Girl" in the Broadway adaptation of "Great Lakes Avengers"!

(If Idris Elba can be Heimdall, you can be Squirrel Girl...)

So I take it that somebody got bit?

(If they did, you probably want to make sure it gets washed out well with alcohol because you can still get nasty infections that way).

Date: 2011-10-22 05:48 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] anagramofbrat.livejournal.com
No one's gotten bit. Yet.

Date: 2011-10-22 06:06 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] nekosensei.livejournal.com
Yet. So I take it that someone has been feeding and possibly even petting the squirrels?

By the way, squirrels LOVE peanut butter. Some of them will even take things coated with peanut butter out of your hands. FYI.

That reminds me, I've got a family of squirrels building a nest in the big tree outside my house. I should probably put peanut butter on the list...just for kicks. :)

no one's feed the squirrels either. pretty much all the real life squirrels are good for around here is attracting every complex cat to the nearest window/patio door to watch it and slaver.

Peanut butter, though. Will keep that in mind for codename Sciuridae.
