The weathermen have said to expect 1-4 inches of snow for the last three days. Other than a sprinkle that was gone by 10am? no snow. Temperatures dropped and errthang, but nothing fell from the sky. At least it sorta feels like winter out there - other than the freak snowstorm around Halloween we haven't really had any winter weather of note this year.... which of course means we're going to get five feet around beginning to mid-April. I'd not be surprised if we got snowed into PAX.

Anyway. So life, not much really to report at the moment. I've been fighting off a chest cold for a little over a week; today I'm ready to declare the battle lost. Mostly because I can; I'm done with today's bell performance (which went much better than previous ones) and I've got nothing planned for the rest of the day. I did want to get productive things done with the time, but considering how I feel right now, I'm declaring fuck it and reserve the right to hide in my nice warm bed with library books and the iPad relentlessly consuming media and occasionally whining pathetically at [livejournal.com profile] cell23 to get me things so I don't have to move. Considering what the last couple of days have been like with regard to social, family and wedding stuff commitments, I'm not too surprised my body is all "No, seriously, bitch, lay down and rest a spell."

Course, I can't complain, other than being punctuated by coughing the past couple days had their really good moments. Friday I spent running around doing wedding shit (more about that in a separate entry because there is a LOT of blathering to be done about that) and yesterday I spent first up in Athol at [livejournal.com profile] cell23's uncle's birthday brunch, and then later we went to Moti's for dinner and all I can say is oooooooh, Persian lamb stew nom nom. After that there was the Bon Appetit Burlesque's Love/Hate Show and, well, boobies. Also there is something incredibly happy about ending your day by being sassed (and then hugged) by an adorable drag queen in a wedding dress. I seriously have more than a little bit of a crush on Hors D'Oeuvres, I'm not even going to lie.

It was during the second half of the show that I (and indeed, everyone else in the audience) heard about Whitney Houston. this got long. )

Anyway. About that lying down, resting a spell and feeling miserable... Waiting to Exhale has been on my Netflix queue forever, maybe today's a good day to actually watch it.

  • Met my (sorta?) stepcousin last night after 16 years since the last time we met when I went over to her mom and her partner's house for dinner. Turned out to be fantastic - we hit it off and it felt way more like family than meeting a stranger. :) And small fucking world, her mom lives 15ish minutes up 116 from me. Well good goddamn.

Side note - I may actually be slightly allergic to avacado, which sucks, as I've only just now started liking guacamole. Further testing needed.

  • came home and had in its own way equally fun chillout time with another friend who apparently needed it rather badly from what I heard later.

  • Squire's been settled up, now worrying about everything else move-related can officially take over my brain.

  • After bitching on the DC forums (don't get excited, this has nothing to do with comics) about how I've been basically trying to get an Ice egg all summer with no luck, someone messaged me and was all "hey, I just bred one, you want?" O_o, so now it's chilling with my first successfully bred bluna. Which means after the move I can start trying to summon. Whoop.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

  • "Fuck You" is insanely fun to drive to. And belt out at the top of your lungs while doing so. And it's in my range. (So for the record is "Tight Pants.") Oh and 50Cent added a rap to the beginning of it, which is actually funny.

I'm going to spend the next hour eating leftover carbonara and finishing True Blood. I swear, I have not been able to get through Sunday's episode without something coming up or falling asleep or something. Basically, rest on the laurels of the day for an hour or so before girding my loins and officially going into OMGMOVENAU mode.

I've actually had this meme done in advance for a while, I was just copypasta-ing each days entry. Kinda tired of doing that, and kinda annoyed by having my journal hijacked by it for a whole month, so here's the whole thing, with links back to the days I already did and the new stuff behind LJ cuts. So yeah, maybe I can yammer about some other kind of inanity for a change.

Days 1-19 )

Day 20. A song that you listen to when you’re angry Das Ich, 'Destillat (VNV Nation Remix)' / Ladytron, 'Ghosts' )
Day 21. A song that you listen to when you’re happy Chairlift, 'Bruises' / Basshunter, 'DotA' )
Day 22. A song that you listen to when you’re sad Johnny Cash, 'Hurt' )
Day 23. A song that you want to play at your wedding Muse, 'Hysteria' )
Day 24. A song that you want to play at your funeral Oingo Boingo, 'Dead Man's Party' / Boyz II Men 'So Hard to Say Goodbye (to Yesterday)' )
Day 25. A song that makes you laugh Günther & the Sunshine Girls, 'The Ding Dong Song' / Flight of the Conchords, 'If You're Into It' )
Day 26. A song that you can play on an instrument Antonio Vivaldi, 'Winter (Largo)' )
Day 27. A song that you wish you could play Johann Sebastian Bach, 'Little Fugue in G Minor' )
Day 28. A song that makes you feel guilty Fiona Apple, 'Criminal' )
Day 29. A song from your childhood Grandmaster Flash, 'The Message' / Culture Club,'Karma Chameleon'  )

  • I think I'm going to start a miniblog type thing, or a dedicated twitter account and call it "Songs Andee is Not Allowed to Have Playing in The Car Because She Will Drive Like A Fucking Maniac If They Are." So far on the list was AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" and pretty much the entire Dragonforce discography - today we add the opening titles of Spiderman, "Driving with the Top Down" from the Iron Man Soundtrack and Mozart's "Symphony #25 in G Minor Movement #1." Because even classical shit ain't safe.

  • in further WTF driving news today's asshole of the day award goes to the jackass in the gold Mercedes and the diplomat plates. DIES IST NICHT DER AUTOBAHN, DU SCHEISSEKOPF. Jay-zus.

  • Speaking of Iron Man, I've got a hankering to watch it soon on MonsterVision, which I haven't done yet. It may be time, especially with #2 coming out soon. Anyone up for making an evening of it one night next week?

  • want to make cake, but am super lazy and my mixer's over at [livejournal.com profile] cell23's.

  • Most of my PBS requests have come in. In a couple of weeks, I'll have finished grabbing the three Dragonlance books I was missing (in the 1985 editions no less!), the Abhorsen trilogy (in paperback, but eh, no reason to be picky if I didn't have any of them to begin with), and the last three books of HP in hardcover. Will probably wait until I build up some more credits, then start on the rest of the Vorkosigan saga... still mad that Miles Mystery and Mayhem still hasn't been located. Going to check under my bed as soon as I post this. Still need to find a minute to go down to the Jones and see if I can get my hands on any George R. R. Martin, since he comes highly recommended and the taint of previous associations has mostly worn off.
