I had amazing day today up until 11pm when I turned on my phone after Burlesque (and four hours unplugged from the internet) and read the Zimmerman verdict.

FUCK.

I'ma just link to this post I wrote back in March of last year. I don't have any more words than that. Anger, sadness, resignation, frustration, the desire to hug my nephews (and I will next week when I see them) yes. Words? No.

My squee about the rest of the day can wait.

I actually took FB out of my default tabs as soon as I saw the verdict, and other than wondering absently if Oakland has burned to the ground yet, I'm avoiding the media for the rest of the weekend.

I think my current filtering on FB is holding, haven't seen more than one example of asininity, but that was in comments to someone else.

I AM seeing a whole lot of silence, which is disappointing.

Florida never disappoints. And, I know, the issue's bigger than Florida, but still, Florida never disappoints. I'm not looking at FB. For the past I don't know how many months, enough friends have the Trayvon hoodie pic as their profile pics that I never who's saying what anyway -- well, not at first glance.

Another sad day for America. And in a somewhat cynical tone, I'll add that the Weinstein brothers had great timing in releasing Fruitvale this week.
